Bright Eyes

Those eyes cannot speak.
They watch the world,
Words hiding behind them.
They shine brightly with innocence.

Those eyes give a look of confusion,
As other eyes that speak only tell of frustration.
Why do they worry so?
Life should not be spent worrying about the past;
Instead they should enjoy the dessert of the present.

Those eyes are misunderstood.
When they tear up, it is not because they want to cause trouble;
Instead, it is because they are hungry.
Maybe those nights of unrest, which keeps other eyes open
Should go rested.

Those eyes see differently.
There is no such thing as an exam to them.
Why do the other eyes race over the scribbles on a page
With such unease?
There is always a time for fun as well.

Those eyes reflect the light,
Glinting gleefully into the sun.
Instead of scorn, there is only appreciation for the wonderment around them.
A giggle escapes.
Happiness is best served with a smile.

Those eyes look towards the others.
No words can escape.
Yet in those eyes,
Was the expression of happiness.
