A Meeting of Convenience (Private, Oblivion Beetle)

Berlin. Ravaged and desecrated and still smoldering in the aftermath of Inker's victory. Constructs of ink, maddened humans, and as always the roaming Kishin Eggs. High above what remained of the Brandenburg Gate, where only smoke filled the sky, black-red lightning began to crackle. Slowly, the lightning converged into one point, which exploded outward into the faint impression of Lord Death's mask. From this point of energy, a figure fell, headfirst towards the ground. He flipped himself around just before impact, and slowed himself so that he touched down gently. Sylas pulled his hood up, looking around for any signs of hostility. Before a fight could began, he spoke, not in a commanding tone or a raised voice, but at a simple conversational tone. "Inker. I'd like a word."

"Hi! Inkers not here right now! Please leave a message after the beep. BEEEP."

"Nah, I'm messing with you. So, Sylas, howsit hanging? I assume this is about my request regarding Eternal Spring? IE, either I get it, or I unleash the worst disease since smallpox?"


The many, many constructs inhabiting the streets seemed to be giving Sylas a wide berth. 

"Also, please note, that I intend to keep this civil. Not going to attack unless attacked."

Sylas began to walk through the streets, no destination intended, merely strolling. "No, this isn't about the Spring. It's about something far graver. Something that will require your might and that of the DWMA's to overcome. Can you guess to what I refer?"

Sylas found himself in front of a partially destroyed skyscraper. He clapped his hands together, slowly rising up into the air. "Yes. Nebun. I can beat him, Inker. But I can't while he has more souls. I don't know why I'm changing. I don't know what I'm turning in to. But if I can get more kishin souls, there will be a level playing field. And that's why I've come to you. You have a large collection of seemingly unnecessary Kishin Eggs."

Sylas landed on the top of the skyscraper, looking out over the devastation. "As many as you feel like sparing. And I will accept any condition you accept, so long as it does not require me to betray Lord Death, the Academy, or my comrades."

Sylas shook his head. "I will do what I can in terms of the Eternal Spring, but my stipulation was to not have to betray Lord Death or the Academy. There must be some other task you could give me."

Sylas lifted off into the air, heading towards the rubble where they had first met. He landed slowly in the rubble, looking around.

Standing in the rubble, waiting for Sylas, was a lone figure.

"Sylas, my boy! Nice to finally meet you, face to face. I must say, you are....shorter than I expected."

This figure, presumably Inker, was fairly tall, wrapped in a long, dark cloak, with tendrils sticking out of his back. His visage was obscured by a dark mask, with four holes in it, each emitting a cold, yellow light.

Sylas pulled the hood of his Feral Insanity cloak up, nodding to Inker. "You'll forgive me if I don't relax. The possibility for an attack seems likely. That being said... It's a... Pleasure to finally meet you."

"By which you mean, you wish you could throttle me. Believe me, I understand the sentiment. I am a bit of an ass. Anyways, my problem is fairly simple for one of your combat abilities. You see, a creation of mine got a bit out of hand. Now, I stuffed him into a pocket dimension, but, thing is, while the thing is in there, I can't actually USE said pocket dimension, as it destroys whatever I toss in there. Now, your fairly powerful, you should have no problem killing it. Sound easy enough?"

"Tell me what the construct is first. Knight? Herald? Bomber? What am I dealing with her, Ignatius?"

"Hmmm....In essence, its rather none of those things. Its my attempt at creating a Clown, rather than a simple construct. It....kinda failed. Think of it as an amalgam of the various constructs I use, with abilities taken from each."

Sylas facepalmed, shaking his head back and forth. "Of course it is. I'd like your word that I'll not be trapped in this pocket dimension once the deed is done."

"You have my word that I will not trap you in my pocket dimension. Do I look like the kind of person who would trap you like that?"

...

"That was a dumb question and I now want to slap myself. MOVING ON!"

Inker raised one of his arms, creating....what seemed to be a small portal. "I wish you luck. Also, if you die, dibs on your duds."

Sylas rolled his shoulders, holding out his hand. Black lightning crackled in front of his outstretched palm, and he gripped it, it forming into his halberd/axe. "You won't get the chance to take them. If I die, they'll be extinguished along with my soul."

".....Buzzkill, arencha? Anyways, hurry up, the energy I have to expend to keep that portal up gives me a headache."

Sylas stepped through the portal, and into the unknown.

The portal would shut behind Sylas. It appeared he was in some kind of.... city?

well hello again sylas. seems like old inker sent you to kill me. 


Oh no.

this is going to be fun. so. much fun. i suppose he told you this was a pocket dimension, no? fun fact, he lied.

Sylas sighed, rubbing his eyes. "Of course he did. But, fun fact..." He seemed to shift, looking up. His eyes were pure white. [color:a349=990000]"I'm more powerful than even you right now..."

of course you are, darling, of course you are. of course, the only reason you are more powerful than me is because inker has been draining my power in an attempt to weaken me, but whatever. now, moving on, i imagine you will be successful in slaying me, but thing is....


Sylas would see ... a massive SHAPE, moving in his direction.

the thing is, i am more than confident in my ability to take you with me.
