Away from the noisy classroom

"Hey you! Wait up I said! Why are you walking away during class?!" It was Sid, the zombie teacher who spoke. Who might he be talking to you might ask? Well ofcourse it is nobody else than our book reading, highly anti-social weapon student Shizuka. Something had clearly ticked her of enough to openly walk out from the zombies class. That little "something" had been her noisy classmates. They had been supposed to break into groups of three, discussing what important roles could have for their existing or future meisters. A typical weapon lesson for you... Everything had seem to be under control until things... Escalated a bit... They had gone through the basics like: obey the meisters every command to every detail of it, give them advice, mental support, soul resonate and so on. But then all of a sudden, some idiot had to throw in some overly heroic line like "Defend our meister with our own bodies like the Death Scythe Soul did and prevent them from any harm!!!"
A typical thought of someone thinking they live in a novel of fame and heroism. But it is just a statement from a fool. The meisters train themselves in self-defense with their weapons to control life threatening situations such as those. What were they gonna do if their weapon got injured and wasn't able to transform anymore in the combat? Once again... It was a fools statement.

Her classmates didn't seem to have shared her oppinion though, the class flew into storm and it was chaos in the class. Noise had assulted her from her classmates foul mouths at all directions and she simply could not stand it. So here she was in a bad mood, chased by a confused Sid in the hallway.
"Leave me alone." Shizuka said with determined hostility against the teacher, as she made her way towards the quiet library. She knew that her classmates wasn't fond of her... But why should she care? It has always been like that after all.

Suddenly someone in the library sighed, that person seemed annoyed! In the library, there was a young witch with long red hair and read eyes, she was looking around and searching for a book about magic. But she couldn't find anything like that, which annoyed her so much! "I need to find this book if I want to improve my spells!" She said to herself. Maybe it was somewhere high? Angela summoned her flame wings and flew up. Nope, still nothin'!  What if her stupid sister Aurora took the book? Angela landed on the ground and her wings disappeared. "Geez..this library is..Just..So disappointing." The witch muttered

When finaly arriving to the library Shizukas mood had cooled a bit. Ofcourse she hadn't forgotten the chaos in the classroom but now she was at least a couple corridors away from it, so it was almost okay now. Her first thought when she entered the large library was "Yes! Alone and the library all for myself". Though upon closer inspectaion there actually was a girl unusually close to her height with blazing red long hair in the middle of the library. Stopping herself halfway from an annoyed sigh she took one of her thicker books and made herself comfortable on one of the library chairs. "If I don't bother her she probably won't try to bother me... No use taking out anger at a random stranger" She thought as she continued read the page.

I need to find a person who would help me..I know! I need a bookworm! Eh? Is there any bookworm in this stupid library? Angela thought to herself. The witch began to walk around the library. For a moment she thought that she was alone, but it wasn't truth. After a short while she noticed Shizuka. Yes! Finally! I've found a bookworm! She thought.
Angela walke over to Shizuka. "Uh..Excuse me? Uhm..Do you know where can I find a few books about magic?" She asked. Though is sounded more like: Hey you! Show me where are the books about magic!

Shizuka knew that she were coming towards her... It wasn't magic or something, it was just that probably anyone but a deaf person could hear those steady echoing footsteps from a mile away. She also seemed to have the nerve and temper to basicly try and order around someone they've never meet before too... Shizuka sighed and slamed her book shut with a bang. She eyed the girl up and down with uninterested eyes and stood up from the chair. Looking up close she realised that the girl probably were around her own age, not rare in this school at all and she didn't really bother herself about such things anyway. "How about you ask a bit more nicely instead of trying to order me around? Have you never been in a library before? Ever heard of sections? Why are you searching for magic anyways? It won't be any use to use weapons if you were thinking of that." She said as she rapidly asked one question after the other.

"Okay okay okay! You ask too many questions!" Angela exclaimed. "Fine. I'm sorry. Uhm..Could you show me where can I find books about magic, please? Because I'm interested in magic and I want to learn something more. Answering your another question: I'm a new student so..you know." The witch spoke.
Well it was obvious to see that she wasn't just a normal student. Ohoho of course not! She was a witch. A creature that most of people would hunt down without thinking. But she was also a meister, that's why she is here in Shibusen.
Angela crossed her arms. She wasn't sure if she should tell Shizuka that she is a witch.

"Hmm... She really didn't look like the book type at first, I guess you can't judge a book at it's cover... haha... No that wasn't funny... She put her book away in her bag and then procceded by putting it over her shoulder. "Hmm, I guess it can't be helped if you are new here in the library... And it isn't really my buisness to question and criticize someones interests either for that matter." She said calmly and gave out a sigh. She wasn't good with these types of situations. Normaly she'd try to ignore the girl and make her way somewhere else. But this girl actually wanted to read, so she took and made an exception to the girl. Shizuka made a waving move with her hand indicating the girl to follow her and started to go to the magic section... Or at least the magic section they were allowed to borrow from. "Name?" She asked in an incomplete sentence.

"Huh? Name of the book, I'm looking for? Or my name?" Angela asked. She wanted to make sure because she didn't want to say anything stupid. Well as I said before, Angela was looking for the books about magic because she wanted to improve her own spells.
Well there was one thing that really surprised her..This girl hasn't noticed the fact that Angela is a witch! Should I tell her..What I am? The witch thought. Well she knew one thing..She was somehow acting more like her sister. Because Aurora loved sittin in the libraries.

"Ahh... Right, forgot about that... Darn sentences, had forgotten how much one need to say to express oneself. Such a pain..." She groaned and complained. "Anyway sorry about that. Well we could begin with the book, if you know any title you want that is. Then you could tell me your name... If you even want to that is." She stayed neutral in their conversation to not sound forcefull to the stranger and to avoid any unnecessary arguments or misunderstandings. As she spoke, not once did she break her concentration towards the shelves and sections they were passing. It'd be bothersome if they accidentially were to walk pass it after all. She suddenly remembered something and turned herself towards Angela "Just so you know, if you don't find the book you are looking for it might be because it isn't on the level 1 floor. Students with 1-2 stars only have the first floor available, 3 stared stundets can also use the second floor. The third floor is for staff and the fourth is for Death Scythes and senior Meisters. But you probably won't need something that high upp anyway. With further ado, let's go on." She made a 180 degree turn and continued to browse through the shelves,

"Okay okay..Hm." Angela said as she began to poke her own head. Finally she pointed at the ceiling and said: "Oh! Uhm..It was something like..uum.. Different types of witch magic.."
Of course Angela wasn't sure if the title is right, but every similiar book should be helpful. The other thing was..What will be the girl's reaction? Maybe she will think that Angela is a witch? Well Angela was planning to tell her anyway so it wasn't a problem. But what if she was a weapon who was looking for an opportunity to kill a witch and eat her soul? Well we shouldn't forget that Angela has her katana and she uses it to self-defence and also..She could use her fire magic..No that was a bad idea because she could accidentaly destroy the whole library.

Was this girl really that interested in magic? Such thoughts had begun to circulate in Shizukas head. Normaly, one would at least look some things upp before going to look at them... Just generaly looking for any witch magic? It sounded fishy to Shizuka, but what was she going to do? She had no way of knowing if this were a witch in the first place and even if she were, she didn't know her intentions. "Gahh... All this darn thinking... I wish I'd just ignored her back there a few minutes ago. What were she expecting me to go on with all these vague answer? She even forgot the name question or even to reject it. Wait... Is this how people feel when ignored at times? Infuriating... How do they even stand me? Ohh right, they don't."

She came to a sudden stop a few shelves from the small collection of magic that they had on this floor and asked Angela in a cold voice. "Are you really only interested in magic miss? If someone have taken an interest in something you don't suppose they look up a few titles first like, on the internet or so? Instead of blindly going around the library asking students for help? Excuse me if I'm mistaken here but so far I've gotten anything but vague answers and strange gestures. You even ignored some of them... Do you have any ulterior motives in this?"

"Damn...Stop being so cold. There are a few reasons why I really want to read about that magic. Listen we should know our enemy, right? And also.." Angela said, with a little annoyed tone. That girl was so irritating! She talks too much and she's way too cold for her. Even if Angela was trying to be nice. She shouldn't have asked her for help! She was just an annoying bookworm!
Angela growled. "Fine you detective! I'm just a witch! I want to study, read books and help myself control my magic and even improve it. But I'm not a normal witch oh noo..I'm also a meister that's why I'm here in the DWMA!" She said with angry tone.
Well maybe Angela overreacted..That made her feel sad. Now she wanted to apologize to Shizuka for what she said
"I'm sorry..I shouldn't have yelled.
And also the begging was terrible. I'm Angela Foster the witch meister in the academy and I'm so sorry for being mean" She said, trying to be nice

Shizuka watched Angela literaly unfazed whilst she fell into a fit of rage. What had gotten her attention was that the girl admitted she was a witch. By curiosity, or maybe it was sheer instinct, she walked closer to the girl and pinched her right cheek lightly. Yupp, no stranger from any other girl cheek out there. That she knew of at least... "Ohh, sorry bout that." She said as she realised what she had done.

"I have never really meet a witch before so I became... A bit curious. Ohh and don't worry about the yelling part, it's an everyday occurrence. As you might realise I'm not really the most popular person around this school... Anyway, as you seem to be determined to be a meister which is good. You have also pretty much spilled me some beans so I have no more reason to question or suspect you of anything... Nice to meet you Angela, the books you are looking for should be in that shelf right over there." Shizuna pointed at a dusty old bookshelf who didn't seem to have been dusted off for years. "If you need help and... can stand it, you can just come back and ask me for help. I'll leave you to your buisness now then." She said before giving the red haired student a small bow and turned around towards where they had came from.

"Uhm..Thanks.." Angela said, surprised. Then she walked over to the bookshelf and took one of the books about magic. "Hm..Interesting..Aurora haven't touched these books ? Impossible." She said to herself. The witch opened the book at page where was everything about magic of healing. Maybe she was using fire magic, but she was planning to show this book to Aurora.
Angela began to read about a spell that could heal every person in area of five meters. That could be useful She thought.
After a short while of searching Angela found a page where she could read about her magic. "Some witches are able to control fire and manipulate it" The witch read with excitment in her voice. "Hm..So my wings is unique, huh?" Angela said as she closed the book and put it back at the shelf. "I need to think about it"
Angela decided to go back to the place where she met Shizuka. After she did it, she sat next to the place where Shizuka was sitting earlier. "Hm..Controling fire would be fun" She said to herself

The word "Thanks" had an unusually good feeling to it. Perhaps it wasn't tooo bad helping people every now and then. If they were even going to bother thanking her that is... The way back to the chair she had been sitting on was nothing less than annoying. Thankfully she noticed an interesting book which she apparently had missed on her way to the magic shelf with Angela. "Lucky~" She murmured quietly, making sure of that none heard her happy tone.

When she finaly came back she brought up the thick book from her bag once again, flipped through the book to page 267 and continued at the line she'd previously left off. She had barely managed to read four pages before Angela was back from the magic section. What surprised Shizuka more though was the fact of her taking a seat right next to herself. W-What?... Why? It was clear as day that she didn't like my attitude before. Perhaps she want to ask me something else?

"Hmm... Be careful so that you don't burn down the whole library when you practice... I doubt that any part-time job out there would be able to hold up against that library pay-check." Shizuka said half jokingly, trying not to sound too bothersome. Why did she even try to talk with this girl? Was it because she was a witch? Her soft cheek? Was it because she was someone who actually thanked her for once? Or maybe she had taken a more personal interest in her? "Nonononononononono" Shizuka rejected herself as she buried her face into the book. "This is dangerous... Any more talking and she might take me for a friend and my solitary life of reading will be gone!"

Angela smiled. "Hey hey, I'm a witch, that's right, but it doesn't mean that I'm going to destroy this incredible library." The witch said. Well, she didn't want to get expelled from the academy! Only someone stupid would use fire magic in the library! But what about the situation when she used her wings? Oh yeah, right, but then she was very careful. Suddenly something came into her head. "Hey..Is every weapon in shibusen trying to get a meister by saying bullshit like: I'm going to protect my meister even with cost of my life! Hmm?"
Angela asked Shizuka.
She hated liars and people who say false statements. And most of weapons she met in shibusen didn't even know how the kishin eggs are dangerous.

"Wha..." Shizuka uttered out, tumbeling for words to answer Angelas question. Was there actually someone here who properly thought about such things?! She was quite shocked by the fact but she soon regained her composure and closed her book once again. "Apparently about every single weapon in this academy are a moron and an embodiment of a fool in this academy... They fantasize themselves as heroes, fated to perform nigh-impossible feats of drama and heroism. Possibly a main character they sputter our nonsense like jumping in front of an attack if their meister were to be in danger of harm, like that Soul guy from 15 years ago... What are a meister supposed to do if their weapon were taken out? They might as well have taken that hit because there is nothing else for them to do." she said mercilessly hintingly towards her classmates.

Shizuka stretched her arms towards the ceiling and shifted her sitting position a bit before she continued her with answer. "I'm not like that though... Rather than thoughtlessly turning human in battle, I know that I'm of much better use to a meister if I keep my weapon form. Meisters are trained to fight, weapons are not... Meaning that keeping a weapon to the experienced is the better choice." She took a deep breath and exhaled right after she was done talking. She was obviously talking to much when she actually did... Information shouldn't be misinterpreted after all.
"I wonder if Angela wants a hero like that? If that were to be the case she'd probably be quite upset with me now huh?"

"Damn heroes..The kishin eggs are too dangerous! Nobody should play a hero in a fight against them. For my sister it's nothing because she can always heal her partner, but I think that a weapon is more important than a meister. If meister dies, the weapon can always find another one, right? But if someone plays a hero like..Uhm..Soul? Such an odd name..Uh Anyways if the wepon dies in a battle, the meister will probably die too." Angela spoke. In her opinion safety is very important, so risking lifes is stupid. Shizuka was right, the meisters are the ones who are trained to fight and the weapons are not. "So yeah, you're right. Wait a second..Where are my manners! What's your name?" Finally Angela woke up and asked about her name!

"Hmm... Now that you mention it, I never gave you my name did I? The name is Hanari Shizuka and I'm a weapon... Which you probably already know. I also want you to know that I wasn't getting on that weapons are more important or whatever... Just think what would happen if DWMA lost Stein or Kid. Weapons can always be created anew, but a talented meister cannot..." Shizuka said as she casually faintly started to pinch Angelas cheek once more. Damn... One could probably get addicted to their cottonlike softness. "Such a horrifying weapon... Shizuka thought for herself.
"Anyway, you mentioned that you have a sister here too? And she is also a witch that uses magic? Is she the older or the younger?" Shizuka asked Angela without even giving off a hint to stop squeeze and press her cheeks.

Angela didn't like it when someone was touching her cheeks. That's why pinching her cheek was irritating for her. "Ergh..S-Soop..Sto-op, Shiz-uka..I don..Don't like this." Angela groaned. Finally she used her secret weapon! Suddenly Angela turned into a hawk and landed on a table. "Hmpf! Okay, answering your questions..Yes I have an older sister. Her name is Aurora and she can use healing magic..Aurora has also two weapons: Ben and Arthur." Angela answered.
"Uhm..What is your weapon form?" The witch asked

"Are you sure you aren't a weapon as well Angela?..." Shizuka asked quietly. Regaining herself from the pleasures of nirvana (Angelas cheeks), she swiftly got her emotionless expression back on her face. "What weapon I am?..." Angela asked. "I'm a naginata... With a whole lot of bandages on. I guess it originated from the way I dress up." She said as she gestured towards the bandages on her large sweater, which was used to keep the exaggerated size in check. "Not really the most impressive of weapons out there. Everyone out there seem to have some kind of great ability, but so far I can only readjust the pole length of myself if I or the meister so wished. Guess it could be used as a semi-ranged attack or something... You should probably not show your animal form here either. You woudln't want to blow your cover here right?" She said cautionary to the witch. "And I don't wanna look like I'm talking to a bird either."

My..What? My cover? What are you talking about. I don't even use a spell called Soul Protect." Angela said as she jumped off the table and turned into her human form. "Listen..Thanks to my sister, we don't really have to use soul protect in the academy." Angela explained. Of course she also wasn't even planning to hide her soul wavelenght, because why? She could use her magic and katana to protect herself. Suddenly the witch began to think. "Naginata, Naginata...Hm..Katana, Wakizashi, Tantõ, Ninjatõ, Kikuchi yari...Oh I know! Naginata is a spear-like japanese weapon, right?"
But about the bandages..
Well Angela knew that there is a weapon in the academy who uses the bandages to cover her whole body which makes her look like a mummy.
But still, she somehow liked Shizuka's style. Why? Because in Angela's opinion it was very original. "Hm..About your bandages..They look cool on you."

"Huh?" The bandages looked cool on her?! It was a comment she never had recived before. Usually it is quite the contrary and was one of the many reasons people had avoided her back home. "E-Ehm... Thanks I... I guess?... People have always seemed to distance themselves because of these. But I didn't know that DWMA had accepted witches here, quite unexpected." Shizuka said a bit surprised. "But yeah, naginata is a polearm weapon. It's basicly a wakizashi on a pole... Or rather... It is a wakizashi on a pole, both can have a blade that is from 30-60 centimetres after all." She explained. "It was also used mostly by women during the Edo period in Japan."

There was a moment of silence between the two students. "Who is your partner then?" Shizuka asked to break the silence, quite ironic considering that her name meaned quiet or silence.

"You know...I don't have a partner. I'm looking for someone who can turn into a japanese weapon. I dunno..I just like japanese weapons." Angela said with a smile. She really loved japanese culture. It was so interesting. Well Angela also wasn't leaving her room without her katana.
But there was one thing that surprised Angela. It was the fact that women in Japan were fighing in Edo period. Look how many interesting things you can learn from a bookworm like Shizuka!

"Hmm... a Japanese weapon huh? There aren't really that many students from Japan that I know of except me so that could be a bit of a problem to find I guess." Shizuka said totally oblivious of the fact that Angela probably were hinting her something. "Actually, I know where we can find this years school directory... I could go fetch it and try help you find one there if you want." She said as she walked towards the close bookshelf, containing every directory ever since the school were created.
