September 5th, 1 pm

It was a beautiful day in Death city. The sun was out, the birds were chirping and there was plenty of people lounging around the shopping district with pockets full of cash. Melinda set down her violin case, choosing a rather shaded area to set up. She needed money and sense her partner wasn't getting a job anytime soon, she decided to take matters into her own hands.

Opening up her case, she gently took out her violin and bow leaving the lid open for tips. Rolling her shoulders once, she got into the appropriate stance before setting her violin on her shoulder. Despite her usual ADHD squirrel personality, she was calm when she played her violin. The different sound waves and concentration played a big part in this. It was difficult playing the violin, you needed to be calm to be able to focus on the notes and the sound that they produce. Taking a deep breath, she placed her bow on the string of the violin with a flick of her wrist and began playing the notes of a fast paced Irish jig.

(OOC: Flogging Molly: Seven Deadly Sins, just saying. xD)

A new place, new sounds, new smells, new people. Chicory decided to block thinking about people for the moment as to not freak out in the Market. Obviously she knew other people where in the streets, as the vibrations of their steps from the ground hit her shoes and traveled up her body. But there was no need to freak out, stat calm Chicory, you're just looking for some Japanese Style furniture for your dorm. No big, nobody is going to question you, you'll be all..."Meow!" "EEEeeeeeeppp agh!"

Que the random cat, sitting on a vendor table. That sold pots and pans and... metal gourdes? Or maybe it was a cauldron? Whatever it was, Chicory was stuck, sitting in it. "Oh, baka! I can't believe I did that..." It wasn't long before the owner helped Chicory get out of the cauldron and back on her feet. The old man apologizing for his cat surprising her. Chicory petted the kind animal and was on her way. Only faintly able to here the man's comment to his cat. "Y'know whiskers, I think that girl was blind"

Chicory's face glowed red and she covered it with her hood. She ran a little ways before she stopped and revealed her face again. She leaned her hands on her knees as she panted from running so fast. She let out a sigh before her ears twitched at the sound of an instrument. What was that instrument? Chicory had heard it before but didn't know from were. She started walking towards where the sound was coming from with her hand cupped around her ear.

She stopped suddenly when her foot his something...hollow? That thing being a Violin case in front of an unsuspecting artist. Chicory heard a sound of surprise from n front of her and instantly steped back and bowed. "G-Gomenasai! I'm so sorry, I-I'll pay for any damage!" She said in her nervous and frail voice.

A small crowd had gathered around Melinda, clapping along with the tune. A glimmer of sweat started to form on her forehead, as she quickened the pace of the song. Gauging that enough people were starting to take notice, she changed the notes a little adding a unique spin to it. She never was one to follow the sheet music completely, she always needed to add her own signature to it. It gave the song personality, and made it more entertaining for her to perform.

She was starting to enjoy herself, not only was the crowd a good one but she was actually making money. To be honest, she was more happy about the money part then anything else. Making people happy is great and all, but free entertainment can only go so far.. She needs to eat too. Closing her eyes, she let the the notes take her in. There was nothing she enjoyed more in life then playing the violin, well.. she enjoyed baking too but you could only do so much of that.

A thumping sound came from in front of her, causing Mel to jerk her arm back in surprise, which resulted in a very much broken violin string. At least she made it thirty minuets with a intact violin... new record. Pouting she lowered her arms, glancing at the offender. "Go... Go an sail? I.. I don't have a boat." She knit her eyebrows in confusion, bending over to put her violin away. Thankfully the case wasn't too damaged, just a little indention where the neck of the violin went. "It's okay, there's only a little damage. Nothing duct tape won't fix!" She quickly picked up the money that she had managed to make, and put it in her pocket straightening back up with violin case in hand.

"Why are you bowing anyway? Does your back hurt?"

A bead of sweat ran down Chicory's face, her nervous nature getting the best of her. She could just picture the yelling, although what she pictured and what happened where so different it caught her off guard. Chicory raised her head, "Oh, sorry, I forget to speak English sometimes." Chicory blushed at the comment about her bowing and stood up straight. she then placed her pointer fingers together as she spoke, moving her head as if she were looking at the ground. "W-well, no, I'm fine... bowing is a sign of respect in my country... umm is your... item okay?"

"Item" didn't sound like the best thing to say, even to Chicory, but English was hard enough when you could see what you walked into. "I'm so sorry about that, I'll pay for any expenses you occur for repairing it. It's all my fault, please forgive me." Another instinctive bow was made, and soon ended when Chicory remembered bowing wasn't necessary. It wouldn't feel right not to bow though, Chicory was always courteous to others.

"Your from a different country?! That's so cool!" Melinda's voice rose in pitch as her excitement grew, she'd never met someone from a different country before. Taking in her appearance and customs, she assumed she was from somewhere in Asia. She should of guessed sooner, but she wasn't really paying attention. She was smart.. she just didn't know when to put that knowledge into action. "My violin case? Its fine, still able to hold my violin so that's all that matters."

She frowned slightly when the ex-offender apologized again, it really wasn't a big deal. She broke things all the time, so why should it be different if someone else did it? For her, it was quite refreshing to not be the one breaking things for a change. "You don't need to apologize, I'm not upset." Indeed she wasn't, it wasn't easy to make Melinda upset or angry. Well... It wasn't easy to make her openly upset or angry.

Smiling she did a little bow, not exactly mimicking the ex-offender but trying to take some of the tension out of the air. "I'm Melinda, violinist extraordinaire! And you had the incredibly lucky chance of meeting me." On the inside Mel was a bundle of social anxiety and self hate, but I guess that's what makes good actors.

Chicory blushed at the girls comment about Chicory being cool from being out of country. She tapped the ends of her fingers together repeatedly and turned her head. "I-It's n-no big deal..." She responded a little embarrassed, it wasn't like Chicory was that important. She was just a student after all. Chicory had suddenly replaced her embarrassment with a sudden burst of remembrance. She snapped her fingers as it suddenly became clear. "A Violin! That's what it was." Chicory was a little happier remembering the instrument's name.

Chicory was also relieved that she didn't anger the girl. Upon hearing the girl state her name Chicory bowed once more as an introduction. "Konnichiwa, umm I mean Hello, I'm Chicory... Chicory Madoka." One of the things Chicory was taught before she moved was how Americans introduced there names. It was a bit strange for Chicory but she didn't want to be rude or confuse anyone by saying something wrong.

There was a moment of thought before Chicory suddenly put a few things together. Violinist... Case... oh my. Chicory suddenly gained another worried expression on her face. She put her hands up to her mouth. "E-Ehh... I-I interrupted your violin playing, oh no, I'm sorry, that was so rude. I hope I didn't disrupt anything important." Chicory suddenly put things into perspective, if she was playing an instrument she could have been playing for a crowd... and if Chicory interrupted a performance for a crowd, then that means...

"Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhh!?" Chicory suddenly covered her face with her hood again and crouched down as if trying to roll into a ball and hide. "Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no!"

Mel frowned when she snapped her fingers, she knew she was a bad violinist but she didn't think she was that bad. "I thought I did a pretty good job this time..." Guess it's back to practicing for multiple hours without breaks.. She immediately perked back up upon hearing the girls name. Chicory was a nice name, a lot prettier then Melinda. Chicory was light and fluffy, like a little wisp of bright color. Melinda was heavy and dark, like the color black or the muggy feeling you get before a thunder storm.

"Nice to meet you Chicory!" Melinda Smiled widely, bouncing back on her heels as she said her name. So far this conversation was going rather smoothly, a lot better then her first attempt at socializing.. which ended with her accidentally punching the other person. She should never be allowed out in public, bad things happen. "Are you out shopping? If you are, then you have to go to this one ice cream parlor down the street. They have the best sundaes and assortment of sprinkles I have ever seen!"

"I-Its okay! Really! I was almost done anyway, one can only perform for so long." She smiled a little, bringing her free hand up in a calm down sort of way. She didn't know what to do in these kind of situations, there was a very nervous foreign girl having a mental breakdown in the middle of the shopping district and all she could do was stand there holding a violin case telling people to keep walking. She crouched next to Chicory, placing a hand on the top of her head. "Hey, um.. can you not do that?" She really didn't know what to do in these situations.. or how to comfort people. "Look on the bright side, people will recognize you now!"

Chicory felt like she was a child on a stage full of people right now, even though most if the people had no end away from the scene, some thanks to Melinda. Chicory couldn't help it though, it was her nature. She never liked being in big crowds or around congregated groups of people. Chicory twitched when someone touched her. Although she was a bit calmer when she heard it was Melinda. She listened to what Melinda said and honestly felt more nervous by it.

P-people would recognize her? Recognize her for being the girl that made a scene in the shopping district? No, no that wasn't good at all. Chicory started to shake a bit. She even started to simper a bit like a little puppy. She eventually lifted her hood and softly whispered to Melinda. "A-Are people going to hate me now? " She said her voice a bit shaky.
