Counting days (open)

Yui laid on her bed in her cell at DWMA staring out of the barred window. She was mostly thinking about what had happened in the trial session which brough her here instead onto death row. It was no use being human currently, so she was in her actual form. That way she could also see around her in a pretty wide range and see lifeforms pass by. Staying alert felt important now that the other Lundragans knew where she would stick for the next twenty years. Another reason to stay somewhat alert to her surroundings. Her ears flicked with each small noise she heard.

After finding out which cell Yui was in, and acquiring a map of the dungeons, Glyndwr made his way through the mazelike structure of the lower levels of the school. Surely enough, he found the cell Yui was kept inside of. (After turning the map the right way, of course.) This would be his first time seeing her in her true form.

Yui noticed something entering her electrical field. Making her sit straight up.
"You came..."
She said. She walked to the door where she could look at her visitor. She remained silent for a while, focusing if there were any other suspicious life forms detected.
"Good. It looks like we're alone for now. I just gonna keep alert on this... I wouldn't want any eavesdroppers."
She sat down crossing her legs, removed her necklace from her neck and placed it in front of her.
"Well then, what did you want to know?"

"What's with dragons and purple?" Glyndwr asked, before he could stop himself. "I'm sorry... Nevermind that... Why didn't you want the person the guy mentioned to look after you, and who the heck was that guy anyway?" Proper questions asked, Glyndwr sat down on the floor outside the cell.

Yui thought for a while on how to tell it.
"Well... You could say they are like me. Lundagans. I only figured out myself the identity of that prosecutor when he threatened me after the first trial. Most Lundragans tend to keep to their true form at home so of most of them I didn't even know their identity from what they look like as humans. The reason they are after me... Is because they started to see me as a traitor when I resisted a certain corruption that started plaguing our island. They didn't realize themselves they were slowly succumbing to it. Though I expected them to stay mindless horrors of rage... But it appears that they still have some shred of reason left. It just became very twisted."

"Oh..." Glyndwr simply said, pausing to think for a second. "So, basically, they think that you are a danger to them, as you are out and about in the world of humans. I assume they are secluded, I've never heard of your kind, and I've traveled the world."

"Wait... Triangular perimiter... Things carrying humans... Are you saying that your people are responsible for the Bermuda Triangle?" Glyndwr put two and two together, and then started chuckling quietly. "How long ago was it that people first turned up on your island? Holding a grudge for too long is probably not very good. Though, people have wronged you, I agree."

Yui tilted her head thinking.
"It is my assumption that the island is indeed in this so called Bermuda Triangle. I was actually looking for my home island myself for a while, for the purpose of returning once I've found a way to fix this problem that is going on right now... And it was the only place with some connection to our traditions. It was quite hilarious to read researchers notes onto the fact that they'd think some bacteria that could produce gas in huge amounts which caused waterfalls in the middle of the sea. About the waterfall part they had something right. Though I am very sure those weren't bacteria you'll need like... a very big and concentrated amount of them if they want to pull something off that swallows entire boats. No, I think it were the water Lundragans who just can just bend water to their will if they submerge in it."
She realized how she got off track.
"Ah well... I wasn't ascended yet at that time... So I was like... Ten years old I think? Well anyway, Lundragans were always a bit of researching types. And they figured humans were some kind of violent species, so they didn't want to take anymore risks."

"Yeah, they were definitely onto something." Glyndwr said, thinking of human history as a whole. "Definitely... Hey, what do you Lundragans think of full dragons? Y'know, like, big four legged ones that breathe fire and stuff?"

"Umm... I think it's a bunch of flammable gasses and liquids being built up in their throats, where they set them on fire and spit them out, basically. That's a fireball anyway. As for fire breath, a constant stream, they use those same gasses, though they don't build them up before breathing fire. I think there is some kind of organ in the back of the throat that makes these materials. Nothing magical." Glyndwr scratched his head. "Those gasses are also lighter than air, so they aid the dragon in flight."

"I see... That's interesting. So that's why they can spew large amounts of fire without worry."
Her ears flicked as she was thinking.
"Much more efficient than what Lundragans can do..."

"What do the Lundragans do?" Glyndwr asked, tilting his head in curiosity.

"Well, we actually cast magic through crystals growing on our body"
She waved a bit with the black claw. The crystal glinstering in the little light that was available.
"However, they have limited capacity and can run out for a while, leaving a lundragan to their own psysical capabilities. Plus, it actually shortens the lifespan too, so most Lundragans were worried about using too much magic. Making them fall for a trap set up by witches when they visited our island."

"That's not the best of systems for using magic, it seems. Oh," Glyndwr snapped his fingers. "Was the trap the corruption, then?"

Yui nodded.
"The witches had been around for a while already after offering peace. It was rather easy for them since humans hunted them. So Lundragans sympathized with them after they explained that they had fled from humans. In return they wanted to 'give something back'... Actually maybe it's better if I show you."
She tapped on the necklace that was on the floor it reacted immediately glowing.
"Replay 268 moon 18."
The necklace started humming, then started making a hologram projection.

The jail faded as a new room was generated around them. It was a dark hallway connected to a bright spacious room. In the room stood a row of chairs with tables made of white marble and framed with gold. In the middle of the room stood a group of women. Above the necklace a projection of an armored lundragan similar to Yui was generated.

"We can make you a great offer for the hospitality that you have given us."
One of the women from the group said.
"What kind of offer did you have in mind."
Said one of the lundragans sitting on one of the chairs of the row. He had a finned appearance.
"We couldn't help but hear, you had a problem of your own, of the fact that your kind decays upon the use of magic. But we can give you an answer to your problem."
Most of the lundragans had stood up at that sentence.
"What is it, exactly that you offer."
"It's called Xphelom... It's something we have been working on for a while to generate magic from emotions. It is implanted on the soul and can provide magic at any time to a being..."
The dragonic humans started whispering to another. Definitely interested in the offer the witches gave them. The armored lundragan in the dark hallway stepped into the bright room.
"Excuse me your highnesses. But protocol for those kind of measures require careful research of the subject before we implement such a thing. We should not make hasty conclusions."
The witches just looked at the dragoness.
"Oh but we only got a limited amount of Xphelom, and without a host they would wither soon. But I can guarantee there are no unwanted side effects with this soul addition."
The lundragan turned to the witches, looking rather suspicious.
"How can we trust your research notes, you're outsiders. I want to see the truth with my own eyes."
"YUI!"
The voice of a rather huge lundragan thundered, making the halls shake. The armored lundragan flinched, then carefully turned around. This lundragan was very tall and broad, and large scales covered his body making him look very sturdy.
"Nobody asked for your opinion."
"But sir, they--"
"An unworthy cripple like you shouldn't even be in these halls."
The gaze of the dragoness lowered.
"A-at least consider th-..."
"Leave, we have no need for the opinion of a half breed who can't even keep her body stable without some sorry excuse of an self made armor."
Silenced and defeated, Yui left the halls. In the background the lundragans were still discussing how fast they could implement the idea.

"Stop."
With that word, the hologram disappeared and the dungeons reappeared.

"Witches can be despicable things, and cause other beings to act in horrible ways, just so they can satisfy their madness. Their sway of power. If a witch does not fit in with the rest, if a witch has a soul that makes them unable to hurt anything, they exile them. There are a few exiles like that at the DWMA, as you may know." Glyndwr said. "Witches bound myself and Yurio together. You've seen him before, right? He really wanted to come down here, but he didn't fit... It's always a shame to see the oppressed minorities being the voices of reason. So much disaster would be prevented if people would just listen."

"In normal circumstances they would've checked the properties of such things before they try it out. But I saw the greed in their eyes as an answer was presented to them on a silver plate. I was merely trying to remind them, but their greed for eternal life was greater than the need to be careful..."
Her ears flicked once again at the mention of the dragon.
"Ah yes... I remember a dragon flying up. My mind was a bit fuzzy from that day since I... Lost my mind a bit there, so I don't remember much of it."

"Ah, I see. Well, he saw you fighting the candy, and that's why I ended up defending you at the trial. He asked me to come along, in order to keep you from being executed." Glyndwr shrugged. "Without him, I wouldn't have thought twice about the trial."

Yui sat silent for a while. Then sighed.
"I see... I guess I'll have to thank him, for keeping me alive that is."
Not that this peace would be long. She thought. After all, it has publicly been announced in the audience of lundragans where she would be kept. Question was, how would they try and get her... She was staring at the necklace as she was thinking.

"Whenever you get the chance to leave your cell, that is." Glyndwr added.

"I'm sure that he'll need you soon enough."
