Nicole Mays

Gender: Female

Age: 15

Meister: None

Weapon Form: Nicole turns into a battleaxe with a black handle and silver blades. She can also turn into other weapons (with the same type of appearance), but only weapons that can slash, cut, or stab people, like swords and axes. No maces, hammers, guns, or anything that can be thrown. Her battleaxe form, which is the default, is the strongest of each weapon form. There's a string attached to the end of her handles/hilts that has various lucky charms on it.

Love Interest: None

Appearance: Nicole has hair that's very light blonde, so much so that it can sometimes be mistaken for white when seen from a distance. It stops at her shoulders and looks a bit like she just got out of bed. She always wears a nightcap with the top half of Death's face on it, and doesn't usually bother with her hair aside from finger-combing it. Her eyes are dark brown and her eyelids almost always droop in a sleepy way. She usually has a sleepy smile on her face, and she always looks sleepy even though she gets a lot of sleep. She's 5'5'', her skin's pale, she's skinny, and pretty out of shape. She has a bunch of tiny charms such as an evil-eye, rabbit's foot, or a dream catcher that she'll put on a key chain and wear on one of the belt loops on her pants.

Personality: Nicole is a pretty nice and friendly girl, though she is a bit weird. She talks with a sleepy tone and seems like she's half asleep some of the time. She's obsessed with dreams and nightmares and will frequently ask people what their dreams were like. She'll sometimes rely on dreams to help her decide what to do, and if people ask "Why did you choose this one?" she'll say, "Because so-and-so told me to in my dream". She's really into lucid dreaming and will keep herbs in her house that she says will help induce lucid dreaming (although she doesn't need them because she's pretty good at inducing lucid dreaming by herself). She also writes an A on her hand a lot, saying that it changes to a D in dreams and helps her become aware of the dream.
Nicole is superstitious. She carries around charms to give her luck and keep evil spirits away from her. She also has a problem with the number thirteen, she won't walk under ladders, she sort of freaks out around broken mirrors, she usually keeps an acorn in her pocket, and if she's seen or heard about anyone doing anything considered unlucky she will purposefully avoid them.
It's hard to get Nicole mad or sad because she'll usually brush any insult off and act as if it were a joke or a compliment, and she hardly ever takes things seriously. She's even like this in battle unless it really looks bad for her and her meister, then she gets pretty serious. She's very optimistic even in terrible situations and hates when people have given up hope.

History: Nicole never knew her mother as she died during childbirth. Her father went into a downward spiral and started drinking and acting sort of reckless. He tried to be a good dad, but it was hard and he constantly blamed Nicole for her mother's death (she heard him telling someone this once and started blaming herself). At one point he couldn't take her anymore and was thinking about giving her to someone else until he was over her mother's death and he didn't blame Nicole for it. When she was five he gave custody of her to her mother's brother while he tried to get himself together. He would visit her a lot, but when she was six he disappeared and no one knows where he went or what happened to him.
Nicole's uncle was a very eccentric and happy man, as was the rest of his family. Because of that, Nicole grew up to be a happy kid, though she did get very sad at times when she thought back to her parents. She blamed herself for both the death of her mother and her father's disappearance, and wasn't able to get over it until she was older. Despite that, she was happy and grew up happy. Her aunt and uncle were very fair to her and her cousins, so no one got the special treatment unless they earned it, so she's always trying to treat people fairly.
Her uncle was the one that got her into dreaming. He would tell her all these stories about his own dreams and nightmares, then told her about controlling her dreams. She took an interest in dreams and nightmares when she was young, but it didn't become an obsession until later. Her uncle also told her about some superstitions and she got very into it.
When she was about 12 she started really thinking about her parents and blaming herself for her mother's death, father's disappearance, and her father becoming an alcoholic. This plus the bullying that she was getting at school made her start closing herself off from people and the only thing she considered an escape for her was her dreams. Once she got the hand of controlling her dreams, she would make up her own friends whose appearances were usually abnormal, ad she would spend time with them. After a while of doing this she was slowly starting to get better and not care about what people said.
At fourteen she found out that she was a weapon during one incident with a group of bullies that were about to beat her up. She put her arm up to defend herself and an ax blade came out of her arm, nearly cutting one of the bullies. Nicole got freaked out and ran home, trying to put the blades away. She thought that she was starting to have trouble telling dreams apart from reality (which she was at the time, but it wasn't anything as bad as this). She was relieved and still terrified when her uncle said it wasn't her imagination. He told her about her mother being a weapon, her father being her meister, and explained to her what it meant to be a weapon. He had tried to tell her about these things before, but Nicole thought he was just talking about some dream of his and didn't believe him, no matter how many times he insisted that it was true. Now she did believe him and wanted him to teach her to control her transformations and become a useful weapon. However, he wasn't a weapon himself and didn't really get involved with those things (everything he knew he learned from his sister), but he did mention DWMA and eventually sent her there.

Miscellaneous: Nicole writes down her dreams all the time and will draw about anything from a previous dream from time to time, so the walls in her room have a lot of drawings and dream journal entries. She used to have a problem with distinguishing dreams from reality, and although she's learned to control that, creatures from her dreams do tend to appear every now and then and sometimes people will say or do things that they never actually did or they'll be somewhere that they shouldn't be. Since learning about weapons, meisters, witches, and everything else, she thinks that these things are real and only there because Death City is weird.
