Zhilin, Mason

Gender: Male

Age: 16

Weapon: Valkyrie

Love Interest:

Appearance: Mason is a 5’6, olive skinned youth whose long black hair is usually pulled back by his topogan. He is lean of build and typically wears clothing that fits firmly against his small frame. His eyes are a very clear light brown, almost watery in appearance. Mason's distinctive facial features are his strong jaw line and wild hair. Being from Russia, Mason's appearance is very unique, he lacks the tall build, blue eyes, and white skin of his Russian brethren. Mason takes a lot after his father, adopting his long Arab nose, black hair, and olive skin. When it comes to his clothing, Mason typically has his wild hair pulled back by a topogan, with a hooded shirt, torn blue jeans, and sneakers.

Personality: Mason is a moderate introvert and typically uses his intuition more than his senses to make decisions. What he feels is what he knows, and this very quick thinking mentality is how he judges his surroundings. He’s a very complex person, more so at his young age, where his teenage emotions are constantly flooding his more rational intuition with unnatural feelings. At heart though, Mason is an idealist, someone who believes in justice and mercy over injustice and destruction. These qualities make him a prime candidate to be the Meister that creates a Death Scythe and keeps the Kishin Evil at bay.

History: Mason grew up in the desolate and pollution infested streets of Norilsk, Russia. With temperatures reaching -10 degrees celsius, Norilsk grew so cold that every living tree within 30 miles died and stayed dead. Mason’s mother died giving birth to him, and his father worked at the city's most notorious smelting complex. The smelting complex itself was causing the rampant and deadly pollution which drove the life expectancy of people in Norilsk down to 40 years of age.

Most of Mason’s childhood was spent alone, as most people living in Norilsk decided that bearing children was too risky. The city was filled with drifters. Vagabonds, prostitutes, and the money hungry, who swooped in and out after laboring away in the smelting complex. Mason would often times find himself in the nook of some tavern or bar, hearing the stories of passerby and their big dreams. Some would talk of leaving their barren and cold home to see the hills of California or the electric and futuristic streets of Japan. Mason would listen to these ragged and tired story tellers, contemplating and plotting a way to escape his own frigid prison.

One day a strange(or at least stranger than usual) older man sat himself down at the tavern bar stool. He dressed in heavy furs and carried an object wrapped in black satin. The man never spoke to anyone, just sat the bar nursing his watered alcohol. When Mason slowly approached him, the lumbering drifter turned to him and said in a very slurred way, “er ya cold boy?” His accent was thick and almost incomprehensible, the Russian he spoke sounded so foreign and unnatural. Mason drew himself closer to the man and said, “Sometimes, but it isn’t so cold when you’re inside. My dad says buildings could be warmer if we had trees to make firewood from but he’s always working at the smelt.” It was then that the old man pulled back his hood to show a dry and weathered face, but eyes that were full of life and promise. “Tomorrow there will be spring. It is time for the Witch to go sleep.” The man abruptly got up, picked up his very large object, and stalked out into the wild winter winds.

The next day the cold had dissipated, and grass grew where only ice lived. It was as if the world transformed, even the air felt different in his lungs. The townspeople were flabbergasted, speechless, and even afraid. Some said that it was global warming, some said that it was by the grace of God, but even some less muttered that it was a Meister. Mason knew then what he wanted to become.

On his death bed, Mason’s father gave him his life savings that he had earned working at the smelting complex. His father knew that the pollution poisoning was the hand that was dealt to him but he always wanted better for his son. When Mason asked his father about why the winter went, his dad only had one simple reply. “The Witch.” Mason decided then that he would help banish the wicked winters from the world and become a Meister.

When Mason arrived at the Meister’s Academy some time later, he made it his first priority to find a weapon. It was then and there where he met Val, the most arrogant and self serving weapon in the entire academy, but also the one he soul resonated the best with. Valkyrie came from a long line of famous and prestigious Meisters but who he himself came to be a weapon. He carried a chip on his shoulder that sometimes overshadowed his innate talent, but who when challenged would always give Mason his wings.

Miscellaneous: None
