Appearance: I'm only doing this cause the pic is crap. Kai stands at 5'8", and always wears his black over coat complete with gold thread. He can be a bit of a dandy at times so he usually goes to school wearing a suit vest type of shirt, and either khaki slacks or blue jeans. He tends to wear dress shoes as well. Kai has been seen occasionally wearing a pin striped fedora, although only when he's playing his alto saxophone, he hails from a family of musicians. When he has to go out to the field he throws on a simple pair of jeans, a shirt he can move in, and his boots. He may be a dandy, but he's a practical one. Kai also owns, and usually wears to the field, a black bracelet with a cross encrusted into it.

Personality: Kai is well mannered, which causes him to have some collisions with his weapon partner, Raphael. The young man goes out of his way to avoid confrontation with people he knows, preferring a more easy lifestyle without much in the way of teenage drama. He is stauntly loyal to his friends and allies. Kai is always fresh with a smile, and happy to solve most problems that come his way. (Provided no drama enters into it.)

In combat he tries to keep his sense of humor, but also views all fights with a serious air. He doesn't mess about much, the only showy move is when he first transforms his scythe and catches it, preferring a lot economy in his fighting style. He's also reluctant to use soul resonance as he has yet to perfect the relationship nescessary for his partner and himself to pull off the technique without serious injury. When he fights in a group he prefers to support his allies, hanging back and covering any openings his allies leave in their attacks. When he fights alone he prefers to seek out a field advantage of some kind. Barring this he fights very defensively until his opponent slips up, and then capitalizes on this. A bit of a flaw if his enemies don't make mistakes.

History: As stated above Kai was born into a family of musicians. His mother played a clarinet, and his father preferred string base. His entire childhood was blessed with plenty, music, and friends. (Did I mention his family was rich? They are!). He didn't have any aspirations to join the DWMA, and instead ended up in a private school for boys. Despite what some would think he actually had a lot of free time, which gave him the chance to learn to play the saxophone. He'd played several kinds before find the Alto, and he loved the sound of it. The young man discovered Jazz soon after he found the Alto, and blues only a while later. He was never good at blues, he never had any problems to draw on that would make his music sound good, but he enjoyed playing swing and other styles so it was fine.

A few years into his schooling, and only a month after his spring break, he recieved a letter that changed is life. His family had been attacked and killed, the killer later turned out to be a burglar that had thought the house was empty and panicked when he discovered otherwise. He skipped classes that day to take a bus back home, and found the funeral home that his family had been taken to. When everything was finally said and done he was left with a veritable fortune, the family house, and no parents. His life seemed very meaningless. The newly orphaned child also discovered that his ability to play blues was now greatly improved. This was his only comfort, and a hollow one at that. After all, what use is music if you have no one to share it with?

A year or so later he found out that the burglar had been a kishin egg, one who had turned from his humanity to seek power. The very idea of humans deciding to kill other humans for nothing more than greed, and power caused Kai to feel overwhelmingly angry. Soon after he joined the DWMA as a meister, meeting Raphael on his first day.

Weapon Form: Raphael takes the form of a scythe. The handle is perfectly straight, and about 7 feet long. The blade itself is slim, although very sharp and strong. The handle extends a little past the actual blade, and a small cross piece set diagonally is set at the very end. The handle itself is made of a light metal yet highly durable metal.

Love Interest: Eww, cuties! Girls are gross!

Appearance: Raphael is only 5'3". He wears a gray, slightly ratty beret, a variety of loose fitting shirts from long sleeve to short, and loose fitting pants. Occasionally the kid wears shorts. He wears scuffed up skater shoes. He has tangerine eyes, a nasty smirk as if the whole world was a joke, and dusty blonde hair.

Personality: Raphael, to sum him up, is a brat. He has a very crass personality, and a attitude to go along with it. He has no problem putting down anyone he doesn't like, and used to be a bit of a school yard bully before his weapon powers were discovered. At the DWMA he has a problem excepting that there are people that are stronger than him, and that he has to be a team player in order to utilize his powers to their fullest.

In short, this rascal would be much happier going it alone. So how did he end up in the DWMA? Well even he doesn't know the exact reason why, but he found himself there on a whim one day and discovered Kai, who he later became partners with. Despite the fact that they are polar opposites they still feel a certain empathy towards each other, seeing as how they are both orphans.

In battle Raphael has a tendency to yell at his partner for any dumb moves he may make. This leads to a lot of friction in battle, and messes with his soul resonance. On the other hand he's also quick to come up with odd but strangely effective ideas, many of which have saved his and his partners bacon on countless occasions.

History: Raphael has been an orphan for pretty much his whole life. Presumably someone gave birth to him and dropped him at the orphanage, but since as far as he can remember he's always been alone. Even before his weapon powers fully realized he always felt different from his fellows, which drove a wedge between himself and any potential friends he could have made.

Growing up he was a major school yard bully, constantly getting into fights. Sometimes it would be to save other kids from stronger bully's, and others it was for the shear joy of fighting. If his aloofness and bad attitude weren't enough to scare the other kids off, his general anger towards the world in general and his fellow kids in particular did the rest of the job quite well.

He was adopted eventually by a single parent, Kens'e Furan. The man turned out to be drunk, and eventually Raphael ran away from home to live on the streets. He discovered his powers soon after, in a particularly bad fight that almost cost him his life. He spent the next year or so terrorizing his local neighborhood before having the epiphany that lead to him joining the DWMA. "What am I still doing in this place?" he'd thought. "I have so much more I can go and do!"

Choosing day had found him in a bad mood, for he'd only recently discovered the need for a meister, but he found Kai towards the end of the day. The two hit it off, having found they had similar backgrounds, and have been partners ever since.

Alternate forms: When Raphael is not fully transformed he uses his right arm to create the blade portion of his scythe. He is not limited to this limb and sometimes switches as circumstances demand but he is only fully proficient in the use of his right arm.

Soul Resonance: When he and his partner do ATTEMPT soul resonance Kai spins the scythe at rapid speed. Lightning will rise out of the ground and into the center of the scythe before traveling along the weapon. If the witch hunter form is successfully achieved, Raphael will stop the scythe with the weapon parallel to the ground with the blade pointed into the air. It will be glowing with the collected soul energy, but only actually releases the witch hunter form, a elongated blade with a mouth like shape carved in it and a massive eye were the blade joins the handle, when he slings the weapon over his shoulder, the blade angled away from him.

Race: Witch (Voodoo Doctor)

Gender: Female

Description: She wears a gray robe that shows quite a lot of skin for someone of her more advanced age. Various totems and talismans adore her neck, arms, and wrists. She wears tight fitted sandals that she can move surprisingly well. She also carry's a alligator skin pouch. The Voodoo doctor has gray eyes, tan skin, and white hair. She generally has a laid back expression.

Personality: Not actually evil, unlike most witches. She tends to help humans, often disguising her secret base as a food stand that sells gumbo. She doesn't believe that Kishin's exist, but does believe that weapons, and their meisters, are in fact the evil blight on the earth and wishes to harry their every movement.

History: ???

Abilities: While little is actually known about the Voodoo doctor, enough encounters have given rise to knowledge of her more commonly used abilities. As one would expect, she fights using the power of Voodoo, a combination of magic and curses very unlike an ordinary witches. She has very few direct attacks, instead using an ability known as Curse Link. A few other abilities are noted below, but most are derived by Curse Link.

The Voodoo doctor has also been known to create her own custom gods, although they are not capable of directly helping her in a fight. They can help her shape the future around her to one she prefers, such as causing certain events to occur. They are not at all powerful, as a god derives its power from those that believe in it, and can only shape small events. Her favorites are Old Swamp Man, Miss Alligator, and Bones.
