Lazarus 732044

Toromaki, Lazarus

Gender/Sex: Male

Age: Undetermined

Species: Augmented human

Love Interest: None

Orientation (Sexual/Romantic): None

Weapon: None

Other Form(s):
Pseudo-Kishin Strain:

Shajad Strain:

Bushin Strain:

Appearance: Like most Toromaki, Lazarus' hair is a distinct silver color, and it only extends to just past his chin. The man drapes himself in all black, feathery clothing, with a fuchsia-colored inside which alters its hue and intensity in a regular fashion. He has a taller and slender build, and a pale complexion. This is the end of Lazarus' human qualities though, as his eyes are a constant, glowing red color, his nails are permanently darkened to an unnatural black, and his voice echoes unnaturally against itself in such a way that it sounds particularly inhuman. That, and the single, massive wing protruding from Lazarus' right shoulder make him up to be a very disturbing individual to confront.

Personality: Describing Lazarus' personality is, in itself a challenge. While an incredibly complicated individual, Lazarus seems to act in a very simple manner. He acts only to benefit himself. He speaks factually, firmly, and addresses others with a cold demeanor. At the same time, Lazarus always seems to be planning something. Its almost like he's trying to think of different ways to determine which way the wind will blow next, at all times. In most cases, Lazarus sees others as beneath him, but rarely underestimates potential enemies. He treats most of his family, especially, with disdain, stating that all the branches should have developed the same strength as him, whether or not they did so through the same methods was not important.

History: Most Toromaki are accomplished, wealthy individuals who run their family branch's trade, either by being skilled assassins, hitmen, traffickers, smugglers, or, in some cases, respectable businessmen.... or more often businesswomen, given the family's matriarchal build. Lazarus, however, is a man of science. Obsessed with the concept of resurrection, and the ability to gain life in death, Lazarus went to great extents to find the key to bringing the dead back to life. In his searches, Lazarus discovered that, although just a simple human and not a Kishin Egg or Weapon, he could take the souls of the deceased and incorporate them into his own soul's wavelength; this was done not by consuming the souls, but by surgically operating on his own soul. Much like Stein, physically, Lazarus' body is visibly unnatural and has obviously been tampered with, and like Free, Lazarus' soul is a jumbled mess of things that no normal Meister could ever make sense of.

At first, the man began his experiments by having his servants brought to the basement of his estate in the Moscow Toromaki Branch. With a special surgical tool, designed to operate on souls, he would tamper with the souls of his victims while they were still alive. At first, he was rather convinced that he could perform these operations, and even split the soul in two, without killing the test subject. Eventually, Lazarus found this to merely be wishful thinking, and simply had his subjects killed once they were brought to him. After experiment, after experiment, after experiment, Lazarus finally discovered the means to efficiently grant himself longevity through surgical means.

After some time, Lazarus discovered that not only could his surgeries grant him eternal life, but he also gained a portion of the subject's natural abilities. Upon reaching this realization, Lazarus began seeking out individuals of immense power to rob of their power. He started with younger Meisters and minor Kishin Eggs, then eventually worked his way up to larger things, like Monsters, Witches, and even quasi-divine beings. There came a point, however, where Lazarus' soul could not contain all of the things shoveled into it, and the man became ill in a way that no one could possibly imagine.

A soul sickness overcame Lazarus, and he spent years writhing in his death bed; his family and servants did all they could just to keep him alive and, past curfew, silent. Of course, as the family had expected, the worst happened, and Lazarus passed away. However, before anyone got the chance to mourn his death, or retrieve his... twisted soul, a second soul expelled itself from the first, and quickly began generating matter around it in a destructive, sporadic fashion. Soon, Lazarus' body was reformed, taking the place of both souls.

Months were spent by Lazarus trying to find a way to re-incorporate his original soul back into his new one, but every attempt ended in immediate rejection. Enraged, the crazed scientist's new soul subconsciously began to consume the previous soul. After giving up on his attempts, when he could no longer sense his first soul, Lazarus threw a fit of rage, transforming entirely into a new, inhuman form. This only enraged the man more, and his entire basement-turned-laboratory was destroyed in the process.

Once he returned to his senses, Lazarus reverted back into his normal form, and realized that he, as a single being, was made up of two souls, now: the first being the hybrid soul that he had turned himself into, and the second being the new, clean slate that was the product of his prior illness.

Intrigued by this finding, Lazarus sought to create particular "Strains" of souls by collecting pieces of souls from multiple, similar beings. Eventually, Lazarus found himself inside of a magical book containing various monsters, collecting souls from the destructive forces within. Expecting a simple escape from the book, Lazarus was confronted with an omnipotent super-being, who easily acknowledged the convoluted intentions in Lazarus' pursuit of strength, and decided it best that the man be destroyed.

The being made repeated attempts to destroy Lazarus, but was constantly met with the hurdle of his immortality. Unfortunately, Lazarus managed to shear a small piece of the creature's soul, and temporarily used the power to escape from the purgatory he was in. However, due to the overwhelming power of the soul, he could not keep it within his body, and it was expelled back into the book. The Monster souls acquired during this adventure, as well as some additional Witch souls acquired through the use of his already existing Strain, were used to create Lazarus' second Strain, the Shajad Strain.

Using the new anti-wavelength capabilities of Shajad, Lazarus set out to fight an individual rumored to be one of the strongest warriors in existence. The Bushin and the artificial Immortal fought extensively, although despite being physically outmatched, Lazarus' ability to disable the Wavelength of others caused him to triumph over his opponent, who used almost nothing but his Wavelength. Lazarus began to extract the Bushin's soul, however this task was cut short as another Meister showed up to defend their partner. Frustrated with an incomplete sample, the man escaped, having revealed his human form, much to his dismay. The Bushin Strain, created from this encounter as well as a few Grimoire souls, has proven to be Lazarus' most powerful Strain, though it lacks the specialization in defeating specific types of enemies that his other Strains have.

Now convinced that he has the potential to become a god, Lazarus wishes to unite the Toromaki family and create an empire to rule the world. Of course, he is aware that in order to do this, he'll have to reach a level of power that allows him to defeat the mysterious being he encountered before, seeking to completely assimilated the soul the next time around.

It is worth mentioning that the Moscow Family Branch considers Lazarus to be completely disowned, and are disgusted with what he has become, although they refuse to discuss him with the other branches. Although the other branches now presume him dead, when they originally would bring him up, the Moscow Branch would claim that he was working hard on some sort of experiment that he would not discuss with anyone.

Soul Count: N/A

Miscellaneous: Lazarus' soul appears as a large sphere with a constantly changing, psychedelic pattern and a single wing on the left side. Regularly, the mouth of this soul is forced open from the inside, and a smaller, pitch black soul forces its way out, and takes the place of the first one. The first soul collapses to the ground around the second, shrinks, and then becomes the wing of the second soul, and color begins to fill the second soul.

Each one of Lazarus' Strains consists of its own body and soul separate from his human form. If one body is completely destroyed, the soul is expelled, and slowly regenerates its body so long as Lazarus' original soul still exists. Each Strain heals at its own rate, isolated from one another, and none of them regenerate while not in use.

Human->Shajad: Lazarus grins with an open mouth, as a black substance slithers out from within and covers his entire body.

Human->Pseudo-Kishin: Light gathers around Lazarus and circles him in an accelerated fashion until he is completely enveloped in the light, and his form alters into that of the Pseudo-Kishin Strain.

Human->Bushin: The markings on Lazarus' face grow to run along his entire body, and his physique grows to substantial form. His hair straightens out to form two horns.

Bushin->Human: Lazarus' markings recede back to his face, and his muscles contract to their more lanky shape.

Bushin->Shajad: Lazarus' shadows reach up around his body in the shape of hands, and drag him into his own shadow. Later, he reappears from another nearby shadow in his Shajad form.

Bushin->Pseudo-Kishin: Lazarus' teeth elongate and his muscles contract. He creates an artificial moon above him, and goes inside of it, then exits it in a spinning motion, with the moon now sitting atop his head, mixed into his hair.

Pseudo-Kishin->Human: Lazarus rips his crown off and the moon shatters, returning him to his normal state.

Pseudo-Kishin->Shajad: The moon turns black, and becomes Shajad. The empty husk that was Lazarus' body falls to the ground, appearing as though it had died.

Pseudo-Kishin->Bushin: Lazarus' muscles expand and he tears the moon from his head and throws it like a weapon, which eventually dissipates into thin air.

Shajad->Human: Lazarus falls out of the black mass that is Shajad, which in turn pools to the ground and forms his shadow.

Shajad->Pseudo-Kishin: Light begins to seep out of Lazarus, until he bursts, sending Nox everywhere, leaving his Pseudo-Kishin form behind.

Shajad->Bushin: Lazarus rips the black substance from his body and shapes it into a weapon of his choice.

Abilities:

AbilityDescriptionSouls
Soul ScalpelLazarus can conduct surgical procedures, or act in a combative manner, to remove entire (or pieces of) souls, and fuse them with his own soul, by cutting a piece of his soul open. This can also be used simply as a relatively destructive weapon.
Lazarus EffectWhile, under normal circumstances, Lazarus' body doesn't regenerate at an exceptional rate, if his body is completely destroyed, exposing his soul, his soul constructs a new body from the matter around it.
Strain BUSHINA transformation allowing for more abilitiesBushin/Grimoire/Weapon souls
Strain SHAJADA transformation allowing for more abilitiesVarying Witch/Monster souls
Strain PSEUDO-KISHINA transformation allowing for more abilitiesVarying Pure/Kishin Egg souls

Strain: PSEUDO-KISHIN

AbilityDescriptionSouls
Lunar RevelLazarus' hair is coiled up into a large, spherical shape above his head, resembling a moon. From here, his hardened hair can extend and lash out at enemies, acting as dangerous, monofilament weapons.
MoonlightLazarus can absorb solar light into his body, and expel it as large bursts of energy from his crown.
TsukoyomiLazarus has superhuman strength in this form.
Chang'eLazrus has superhuman regenerative abilities in this form.

Strain: SHAJAD

AbilityDescriptionSouls
UmbraIn this form, Lazarus can merge completely with the shadows of weak willed people and inanimate objects. (inanimate objects does include held objects, but not clothing) Because of his immaterial form, he can not be damaged unless targeted with abilities that are not magical in nature, or do not target the soul.#
GeminiLazarus can split into two bodies, however they must both split the powers available to them as well.#
Magical IndexIf Lazarus can witness the casting of an entire spell once, or the use of a spell (meaning he sees the affects of the spell, but does not see the Witch cast it), he can replicate it. Additionally, if Lazarus hears a Witch's mantra, he can improvise his own version of their animal-specific magic, and can shiftshape into a more monstrous version of their animal form.#
NoxLazarus leaves behind small portions of his body when he makes physical strikes. If these fragments of his body end up on an individual, their soul will become concealed from others, blocking resonance abilities, making it impossible to distinguish the type of soul to those who can detect souls, and negating the ability to transfer souls. If a significant amount of Lazarus' body parts cover an individual, their wavelength will be completely silenced, Weapons/Meisters will be rejected, magic, with the exception of transformation magic, is nullified, the soul is completely undetectable, and Grimoire Mutations cannot be utilized.#

Strain: BUSHIN

AbilityDescriptionSouls
Man-At-ArmsLazarus can effectively wield any form of weapon, and can also wield Demon Weapons, Dark Weapons, and Axes without experiencing significant repercussions, and can even wield Weapons with conflicting wavelengths at the same time.#
ExaltedLazarus does not require his muscles or bones in order to move. He can manipulate his body through the sheer power of his soul, and can even levitate.#
ChimeraLazarus can alter the size and shape of his body parts, and even create new ones, however they do not allow unique abilities beyond a physical level. For instance, he would be able to transform his arm into the maw of a dragon, but it would not be able to breathe fire.#
Warrior SpiritLazarus' martial prowess is significantly advanced in this form, and he can even dodge literal lightning bolts with the use of his instincts and reflexes. Furthermore, Lazarus' power and skill increases exponentially based on the injuries he has suffered.#

Weaknesses: Lazarus' natural soul is comprised of such a complicated formula that, at any given time, his soul may be attuned to a completely different wavelength. While no particular wavelength type is effective against him in a consistent fashion, his shifting wavelength can become greatly susceptible to ANY wavelength at random. This is only relevant when Lazarus is NOT utilizing a Strain [For sake of simplicity, all wavelengths are categorized as Pure, Neutral, or Evil]

Any time a new "Strain" is obtained, Lazarus has to spend great periods of time incapacitated, and eventually dies, before his body is reformed with the Strain incorporated. The Strain is unavailable for use until a week passes.
