Strictly speaking, the skates that Chauncey possesses are a creation that would function to some degree exactly the same as the enchanted version even without an enchantment, although the ones that Chauncey has are obviously not those. Created with his special enchanted parts, these skates are ones that probably only Chauncey can and will ever master.

Chauncey's enchantments aren't exactly complex as far as enchantments go, but they are by no means weak; his particular enchantment specialisation allows him to 'overclock' any electronic component or device. If he were to 'overclock' a battery, then that battery would provide power more efficiently while also holding a larger charge for longer. A motor would spin faster or with more torque etc. Of course, this has it's limits, as a low quality component is much more likely to break quickly under the increased strain. Only the best works.

Chauncey is a fairly weedy looking boy, standing at 5'8'' while being really very quite thin. A lot of clothing hangs loosely off of him, and he prefers it that way; long sleeves looking sort of like those of a straight-jacket, jeans that would work well for someone taller if they were used as skinny jeans with the hems of the legs sown up; these are sometimes replaced with baggy trousers of other kinds. He has been know to also wear clothing which actually does fit him, but that's less likely than the alternative. As for Chauncey himself, he has a pretty looking face with large eyes and long lashes, usually framed by long, straight black hair, at least when it's not being blown around in the wind or tied back in some way. With a small nose and unusually shapely lips, he really is the definition of a pretty boy. One feature that always stays a constant are his powered in-line skates, with two large wheels on each; they are red and black in appearance and do not possess the clunky look that often plagues other in-lines. The skates bring his height up to 6 feet although it's clear enough that he isn't actually that tall.

His pretty looks kind of break apart when one gets to his personality. He doesn't ever mince his words, speaking exactly what he thinks in all situations, often coming off as brash and rude; this is compounded by the fact that he doesn't suffer fools easily and has a rather colourful vocabulary. Even with his small stature, he has a tendency to talk down to people that he meets for the first time and with a lack of patience and a temper, he has been known to take that out on particularly bothersome people through bouts of violence. All of this happens to strangers, however, as Chauncey becomes more amiable the longer someone spends with him. Then, of course, there is the Chauncey that appears when riding his skates; his demeanour during those times can be described as nothing less than elated and even adorable.

History:

Chauncey's enchanting was a family tradition of sorts. All were taught how to do it, and most followed the same sort of path, getting to become engineers and creators to make the most use of it. Chauncey was similar, but he had a sort of one track mind when it came to his projects. He just wanted to go from point A to point B as quickly as he could. Nothing he made ever seemed to offer him the freedom he wanted, however, so he spent years tinkering until a family friend approached him about a project that his other family members weren't all that interested in. The skates he wears now took a good long while to create, and it took longer for Chauncey to both enchant to the utmost and master them. Once he realised that that training had made him freakishly agile, and that he could actually take on people many times his size due to a few back-alley encounters with a little bit of smart movement, he decided to take a shot at joining the Academy.

The family friend with whom Chauncey created the skates opened a shop selling the design, albeit without the souped up parts. Chauncey's involvement in the design process means he gets both free parts and a small portion of the profits. Useful, when you decide to go live alone in a city a fair distance away from your home.

Miscellaneous:

Chauncey is rather good at mending and making things.

More often than not, Chauncey doesn't wear or carry his enchanter's gloves with him, but when he does have them on his person, they end up tucked into his waistband or behind his belt when not in use.
