"But Alas, It's A Perfect Match" (Closed to Chase and Mell)

Jax woke up with an early start. He, obviously, didn't eat breakfast, since to him, "was for the weak." But he did end up grabbing a granola bar. He then jumped in the shower, got himself all clean, made sure to comb his hair, then went out of the bathroom. When jax put on a white shirt, he stared into his closet of, multiple big coats with multiple big pockets. Jax just chose his usual black one and shoved three books into each big pocket. Jax looked around his mansion, well, the parts he felt like looking at, and then ended up leaving to try to get to the DWMA on time.

By the time Jax made it to his classroom, he was fifteen minutes early, which to him, sounded pretty effective, So, while he waited for class to start, he decided to open up one of his books to start reading one of his daily six books.

Mellata arrived at class at breakneck speed, only stopping as she bumped into her desk. This wasn't unusual for her. "S-Sorry I'm late, sir!" She blurted out, an apprehensive frown on her face. "I got distracted in the bath... the suds were so bubbly!" Her facial expression changed instantaneously as she remembered the bubbly warm paradise. Her fingers rose up to her teeth habitually and her teeth connected with skin, shooting her back to the classroom to find the teacher was not there, but only one other person. Lata also became aware of the pain in her shins. Damn, it had already started bruising. Nevermind! She whispered to herself and sat down, humming a song she couldn't remember the name of. Her hand subconsciously intertwined with her vivid green hair as she carried on humming.

Jax stopped reading for a moment when he heard some girl start yelling. He stopped reading to look down at a girl with green hair, obviously dyed, but you never know with this school. Jax just calmly shook his head as he continued to read. Until he heard her start to hum. "I don't understand, why does that humming annoy me so much?" Jax asked himself.

Jax closed his book when he heard the teacher try and get everyones attention. "Okay students. Today, for a class assignment, I will be paring you up into partners. Nothing permanent, but, I made sure to look at everyones personalities and, I think i made perfect matches for all of you." The teacher said. After the Teacher called a bunch of names, the last person on the list was, "Jax and Mellata." The teacher announced. Jax was actually quite confused. First of all, so far, nobody could compete with his personality. and secondly, He had no idea who Mellata was. So, he decided to look around the room who didn't have a partner.

Mellata's ears perked up after hearing her name. Now that was a unusual for her. "Jax Jax Jax Jax Jax Jax Jax..." Lata kept repeating the name as a whisper until that person came up to her. She didn't know this Jax person. Jax quickly became "Shash" as she repeated it at high speed under her breath. Nobody had come up to her yet, so she stood up, shook her hair out and walked up to the awkward person looking around. Everyone else had found their partners, leaving just them two standing. "Hi I'm Jax. You must be Mellata, right?" She asked him.

Jax looked straight a Mellata, "Oh great, its the annoying girl from before." Jax thought to himself. Until he heard her mix up their names. "Oh, areny you precious." Jax told her. But alas, to Jax, Precious doesnt alway equal great partner. So, Jax stood up, motioned for Mellata to follow him, and went to the teacher. "Um, Mister. I really think yo made a mistake here. She looks great and everything, but, I just dont think its a good idea." Jax said, being way nicer than he usually is. The teacher shook his head and simply said "Nah, alot of teachers know you two are a perfect fit for each other!" Jax got narrowed eyed and sighed. He then look at Mellata and shook his head no.

Mellata tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Precious? Like a precious stone? Or something else? I'm not sure precious describes me very well." She took lengthy pauses in between each phrase. Lata studied his face as she talked to the teacher, not really aware of what he was talking about. "What are you shaking your head for? I don't get it. As she looked more, she pulled a face of horror. "Hey, why on earth are your glasses a rounded trapezoid? It's disgusting! There is no eccentricity to that! And the area of that is a disgusting number. I can't even say the number it's so disgusting. That's when she paused. "Um, how do you say this number again?" She scribbled down the number on the back of her hand, going up to 27 decimal places before it repeated again, which she symbolized. Mell then presented her hand to the older boy.

Jax touched Mellata's hand to look at the number. He actually started going through his head when he realized he wanted no parts with this chick. "I'm.... not going to do this right now. I'm leaving." Jax told the teacher. The teacher tried his best to signal Mellata to go and follow  Jax to gods know where. Jax then opened up the doors to the DWMA and started to walk towards the stairs.

Lata's face contorted into an expression of both curiosity and confusion. "Where are you going? We're partners, did you not hear the teacher? Was this a possibility that she found someone dumber than her? Amazing! She was now not going to give up on educating this poor idiotic soul. A person, dumber than she! Before she delved too far into the realm of imagination, she bit her finger out of habit, smiling a goofy smile as she remembered what had happened all over again.

When Jax walked over to the top of the stairs to see some guy steal a women purse. Jax shook his head and turned around to see his new, quote on quote "Partner". "You, Uhhh, Mellata, you're a Miester right? Time to prove yourself. Come here for a second." Jax told her, pointing over to the robber, running all the way down the steps.

Her face twisted into blank contentedness as she skipped her way down the steps and stood still by the robber. "What do you want me to do now?" Lata asked as confusion crept back onto her face. She gave herself a quick nip, but not enough to draw blood this time round

Jax walked down the steps near Mellata. "Hey, you're the miester. You gotta make the choices when it comes to these things. Let me catch you up, he stole that purse from somebody. Do you want to take it back by force? ask for it? use me? let it go? It's your call." Calvin told Mellata. Jax assumed, considering her IQ, he was trying to educate her to become a good Miester.

She thought, and quickly. "Mellata- I mean Jax, transform!". Lata thrust her hand into the empty space and waited for Jax to respond. What weapon would he be? Now, that was an interesting question. Aha! "A pair of detachable scissor blades!" The green haired girl shouted. And then proceeded to bite her finger.

Jax just scratched the back of his head and sighed. "Okay, so, this may be harder than I thought. She is a little dumber than I predicted. But, at least, we shouldn't be able to lose to smebody like this." Jax thought to himself. Jax then once again sighed and slapped Mellata's hand and then transformed on impact. He busted into a bright light and flew right into her hand. And when the bright light dispersed, right in Mellata's hand, A large hand held staffed sword in its first form , with a curved handle and fanned blade. "Okay, you can hear me right? Lets take this slow and steady." Jax told Mellata.

Lata smiled as she felt the weighty, yet not heavy weapon rocked in her hands. Her scarred fingers wrapped around the staff, letting the cold metal's temperature flow through her. She pressed the bottom of the staff to slide through the main hand, so she held it at the bottom and the point was millimeters away from his face. "You're quite stupid, aren't you? This is Death City; what made you think you can commit crimes here?" Yeah, this guy was a numbskull. "I shouldn't kill you because you haven't put anyone's lives in danger, but the moment you do..." She trailed off for effect, then kind of lost her point, trailing off her self. "Oh, yeah, the moment you do, we'll be there, and you'll be dead. Give the lady back her purse!" She said, as seriously as she could. "Did I do it right?" She asked Jax in her head.

Jax raised an eyebrow. "Sure, you did great. Now, knock him out or something and get the bag back. Just, make sure you dont stab him, or kill him. Way to much work if you do any of that." Jax explained to Mellata.

Lata l flipped the glaive with a surprising amount of finesse and gave the theif a sharp jab, stunning him. She slowly bent down and gave the woman her purse with a polite smile. The woman reminded her of a family member... She couldn't quite place it, so bit her finger consequently, drawing blood. "If you get into trouble Again don't make sure to not... What?". Damnit. Lata had no clue what she was saying, and decided to know further on the fresh wound.

Jax sighed and did not want his "Partner" to embarrass herself. "Stop eating yourself and just say "If you ever have feel free to ask the DWMA for help Ask for us if necessary, then tell her our names." Jax explained. "Then after she compliments you, run or walk off back into the DWMA. Mission completed, easy as that." Jax then waited for Mellata to talk to the lady. "You're doing, decent so far."

She nodded, understood. "Don't hesitate to feel free to ask us for help at the DMW... DWMA! We're Jax and Mellata!" She said with an awkwardly bright smile, pointing first to herself, then gesturing with the weapon in her hands. "You can transform back now.". Then she noticed. "Oops! I'm Mellata, he's Jax!"

Jax turned back into himself and bowed to the lady. "I hope you have an exceptional rest of the sidereal day my dear matron." Jax told her, and with that, he started walking up the stairs. "Well, you really need to work on your speech. But, that can be taught. We also need to work on how we are going to help you remember our names. We cant be going around with people calling me Mellata. But, you did do the right thing at the end, If only you had better clothes..." Jax said, handing her five thousand bucks. "Don't spend that all in one place. Overall, I'll give you a four point five out of ten. Almost at satisfactory, good job, Mellata." Jax then bit his tongue. He did NOT mean to compliment her. In anyway what-so-ever. "Don't let that get into your head though, we are splitting up immediately once we find a more suitable weapon for you. so don;t get comfortable." Jax quickly added.

Mellata was generally bamboozled by the whole speech. Working speeches about teachers... Clothes to spend in one place... good job... splitting up... Wait, splitting up? "Hey, what do you mean splitting up when you find me a better weapon? We should at least resonate to.. I mean, try to resonate. The teachers say we're a good match, no?" Clothes to spend in one place... Clothes weren't money, were they? She heard America was weird, maybe in this state clothes WERE money. But what were the green notes in her hand for? No, they said "Dollars" on them and that was the currency. "Jax, what did you mean about clothes and spending? Are you saying I look ugly!?

Jax got to the top of the stairs and looked at Mellata. "Yeah, when we find you a better suited weapon, we will then part ways. See each other maybe, but just say hi and keep in trucking. Also, I wouldnt say you are ugly. Just, your clothes are. No offence to your features or anything." Jax told Mellata. "You want to try resonating? Well, why not. Stick your hand out." Jax instructed Mellata, ready to slap her hand again before he transformed back into a weapon.

Mellata nodded as he spoke, feeling positively better than before, yet still slightly disappointed he thought out the plan so well. She extended her arm fully, kept her wrist horizontal and extended her slender, bitten fingers. With the other hand, she felt her silky green hairalmost in a therapeutic fashion as the ran her ffingers through it. She kept her eyes focused on the edge of her hand, yet still played with her hair as if it were done involuntary action.

Jax sighed. And even though he didn't want to be mean, he really hoped that them resonating would fail. He felt like if they were perfect, he might have to see her face for the rest of his life, or, as long as he lived. Whatever comes first. "Mell, we really need to work on the eating yourself problem. I don't want your blood on my hand." Jax told her, slapping the palm of her hand again, transforming into his weapon once again. "You do know how to do this, right?" Jax asked her, inside his head of course.

Lata nodded. "Um..." She didn't want to respond, but she knew exactly what to do. First, she began by matching her breathing with him. While hers was naturally short and shallow, Jax's seemed far slower and calmer, which gave Lata an insight on his true personality. She slowed down her breathing until they matched, then proceeded to find his soul. She closed her eyes tight and gripped the staff hard, imagining her soul reaching out through her hand, into the hand that she connected with earlier - Jax's. "Soul resonance - lets go!" She yelled, silently in the real world, but as loud as her spiritual voice could yell. With her eyes still closed, she could feel something happening, almost as if inside her heart, yet not there biologically.

Jax was actually, feeling calm. Calmer than he ever was since he was about seven, it was like, Mellata was actually calming his nerves, which nobody was able to do before, well, besides one person. Jax actually looked around his soul room for the first time, he was usually too focused on what was going on that he never actually looked around. It was just his style. A big leather chair, with a small round table, on it, the biggest book he has ever seen, a plate of cheesecake, and a cup of tea. Jax sat in the chair, opened the book, and calmly, but sternly, said "Soul Resonance." Though he was calmly saying it, it was the most passion he out into any word before. Just at that moment, he really felt his soul trying to connect with Mellata's.
