He held his face in his hands wondering how he was going to explain himself to Lord Death. Though he had never been to a funeral before even he knew that it was improper to get up and leave in the middle of the eulogy. It was simply too much to bare, sitting so close to those people's family after all he had basically killed the people himself. How someone entrusted with such a simple task could let something like this happen was beyond him. Grey looked up from the ground to the church behind him acknowledging his wrongs, and trudged down the stairwell in a halfhearted attempt to go and find a reflective surface to report to. While he had been allowed more time, he needed to get his failure off of his chest. Under the glare of the moon, Grey wandered through Death City for a while to get away from the gloomy funeral until he found a place secluded from the rest of Death City's denizens he breathed a long hard sigh as foggy air left his lungs coated the window he had chosen. "42-42-564," Grey said as he drew Lord Death's number onto the window. "I'm ready to report the mission's details Lord Death."
2 months earlier at 1 p.m.
Currently engaging in a transaction with a street vendor, a young witch who looked no more than 14 years old was surrounded by 4 DWMA students. They wore a badge signifying them to be DWMA students, and they were each here with their partner. While two of the students had been paired together for some time now, they had requested help on this mission because of their lack of combat experience and their inability to resonate consistently. That's where Grey came in he was paired with a temporary partner who was a utility meister able to utilize any weapon on the fly. Things had been going well for the makeshift team. They had been protecting this young witch who had no knowledge of how to utilize her magic yet for a few days. While also being assigned to protect civilians from her, Grey had seen no signs of her being mad, presumably because she had never had the influence of magic, and when the sweet scent of pastries hit his nostrils he let his guard down. "You four, I going to go get us some snacks."
"mmhmm, okay no problem." The witch said before she went back to trying to get the street vendor to bring his prices down even more, but the vendor simply refused her. Grey headed off to a familiar bakery in order to indulge himself a little after such a dull mission.
Grey sighed, "This'll be exactly what I need." He drooled a little as he looked over the selection of pastries before him. |

| Lunartic's latest target, was both a peculiar and odd one when compared to all of his previous targets. Not only was Lunartic's target a Witch, something Lunartic would eventually have to hunt done if he ever wanted to progress towards becoming a Demon Blade (Lunartic will not consume this soul nor shall he be saving it). This Witch was only a little girl, albeit she was only two years younger than Lunartic himself. If Lunartic was asked by any regular client to kill this Witch, he would've denied the contract and happily murder the potential client. Unfortunately for the Witch, the person who asked Lunartic to assassinate her was none other than Zera herself. For some odd reason this girl warranted Zera's desire to have her eliminated. As to why Zera wanted her dead, was mystery even to Lunartic. Knowing Zera however, it was most likely because she wanted to test him, see if he was really willing to do whatever she asked. Lunartic may have been reluctant to follow his newest order but he was in no position to deny her, whom he believed to be a true Goddess in a world that lacked purpose.
Lunartic had been following this Witch for days now, just like he would for any regular target he sought to assassinate. Sure other targets would have bodyguards with them but the type of people that surrounded the Witch this time whoever, were students from the DWMA. Unlike the regular bodyguards Lunartic has spotted before, these students seemed to watch over this girl religiously. They never allowed a large enough opening to sneakily pick the girl off and this bothersome fact was beginning to get under Lunartic's skin. Lunartic was usually more patient than this but the DWMA's students' own presence seemed to be slowly eating that patience away. Lunartic, afterall, was quite literally programmed to hate the DWMA, this hatred was causing Lunartic to reach his breaking point. After following them for a little while longer, Lunartic decided that he would wait no longer. He would make a move that even Zera herself, probably would've done. Sneaking up behind the Vendor, Lunartic transformed his arms into chains before charging them with his Crimson blade ability. He then stabbed the man behind the back, stretching the chains out to kill all of the bodyguards that were too stunned at the murder taking place before them than to dodge. Soon their souls would phase out of their bodies before Lunartic's chains barely scraped them to absorb the orbs (A second unique way for Lunartic to consume souls). With the guards dead and their souls consumed, Lunartic proceeded to slash the Witch from each side, a clear attempt to slice the witch into three pieces. Other citizens would look at the scene, inciting screams of terror from everyone on the block. |

| . Barely visible as it is being thrown, a glass sword flies at the witch as chaos begins to break out in the surrounding area as the few vendors and their fewer patrons run away from the assassin. As the long glass sword reached the witch it transformed into the DWMA student that had gone off for snacks earlier. He grabbed her by the scruff of her collar, kicked her legs out from under her, and dropped her to the ground. She began breathing rapidly as tears rushed down her face, and she rubbed in a panicked manner at the few drops of blood that got on her shirt. The weapon quickly drew his sword and he changed the trajectory of the chains coming from one of the sides so that they went above him by angling his sword. As the chains coming from his left went above him he ducked under them and dashed around The assassin's left until he was on the other side of him. Grey grit his teeth. He had so many words for this man, but he couldn't find the words to express his anger. He reached down to a weapon case at his side and grabbed a dagger. Aiming his sword at the assassin's throat, Grey ground his teeth together before he swung at the source of his ire with the dagger. He kept his wrist loose as he went for the swing so even if it made contact it wouldn't even be able to cut into flesh, but would grab the assassin's shirt after abandoning the dagger. |

| ((OOC: Sorry for pushing this back for so long.)) Lunartic quickly transformed his chains back into arms, taking the soul of the vendor he just murdered before consuming it. He felt he was going to need as many souls as he could get if he wanted to go toe to toe with his new opponent. He held his hand up, transforming it into a Crimson Blade chain to prevent the attack that was aimed for his throat. "This doesn't concern you!", Lunartic barked at Grey before he abandoned the dagger and grabbed a hold of his shirt. Before he could allow Grey to follow up with an attack, he turned his leg into a Crimson Blade enhanced chain and swept it under grey in an attempt to cut his legs right off. |

| . After insuring that he had securely grabbed ahold of Lunartic's shirt, he noticed that the other weapon had turned another limb into these red bladed chains. Grey, while keeping ahold of the weapon's shirt, jumped so that his back was parallel to the ground, and then he quickly stabbed his sword into the ground at a slight angle leaning away from Lunartic just behind the path of the chains. He used the sword for leverage as he pulled his legs toward his chest, pulled Lunartic so tyat he was above him, and then kicked him at least ten meters away to the other side of the street. Grey landed on one knee and tugged on the sword, but with the amount of force he had just put on it, it was tightly lodged into the street. Grey stood up and ran at Lunartic, ready once again to attack."How does this not concern me?" |

| Lunartic was very surprised if not absolutely shocked that he was kicked with such tremendous force. The kick sent Lunartic right through a diner window, showering the floors with glass while also lodging shards of glass into his back. His leg and hand then shifted back into human body parts, causing rainbow glitter to appear before quickly dissipating around him. From the wounds inflicted on his back, blood was being drained from him to soak the floor beneath him. Tears were being shed from this Dark Weapon, not because he was in pain. No, Lunartic had endured more and far greater punishments than what he was currently experiencing. Lunartic slowly got up onto his feet, concerned people who had not seen him butcher the Meisters outside crowding around him. "I won't be weak... I'll make my madness stronger... No matter what it takes.", he whispered to himself, confusing the people around him. Just then, Lunartic had transformed both his arms into crimson blade chains. They stretched out to a length that barely touched the walls of the diner.
Lunartic then spun round and round, his two whip-like chains slicing everyone inside the diner to shreds. Blood splattered everything, painting the diner a color that greatly contrasted the glowing blue of the 27 souls that now filled the deserted place. Lunartic spun once more, collecting the remaining souls before shifting his arms out of his partial Weapon form. Lunartic felt each soul inside of him, telling him that changes were being made that would greatly strengthen Lunartic. Lunartic could've sworn that an ability was close to developing, he just needed a few more souls. Grey however was already charging at him, so Lunartic needed to fight back. Lunartic transformed his right arm and stretched it towards the diner's front door, smashing it right through before sending it at Grey's chest to pierce his heart. |

Grey came to a standstill because of the slight horror he felt as he watched Lunartic kill and consume all of those people. It completely caught him off guard, and it was his fault that those 27 people died. When the door splintered open, Grey was not all there causing him to hesitate for a moment before he could assess the threat. His body ended up moving before his mind did, and he dodged to the left receiving a minor cut in his right arm to punish his hesitation. Refocusing on his priorities Grey ran away from the chain and to the witch, collecting the dagger he dropped as he did so. As he ran past her, he grabbed her hand, lifted her into the air, and then began carrying her bridal style away from the threat. |

| Lunartic shifted his arm back to normal before racing after Grey, kicking the diner's front door, which acted as the only thing standing between Lunartic and his target, right off its hinges. Lunartic wasn't himself, he had succumbed to a feral madness that was sending him over the edge. "Get your ass BACK OVER HERE! ... Lunartic wants to rip you to shreds.", he growled turning his right arm into a crimson chain once again to skewer four people who had arrived to film the neighborhood disturbance.(Last time gathering souls in this thread.) After swiftly absorbing their souls, a new ability had awoken in Lunartic and he knew just who to test it on.
Turning to the direction that Grey was trying to escape in, Lunartic transformed his arms into base chains and stretched them out towards him. "Trying to run away so soon? Is that how members of the DWMA respond to seeing a massacre?", Lunartic mocked while his chains attempted to wrap around his legs. If successful, Lunartic would swing him back towards the diner, hopefully launching him through an unbroken window. This was mostly an attempt to get Grey to drop the Witch more than anything else. |

| . After hearing Lunartic shout, he looked over his shoulder to see that the chains were approaching too quickly for him to do much about it. He began trying to use his adrenaline high to help him focus on a way out of this situation. Grey tried to ignore the lunatic's provocation and continue running, but this Grey's pride was far more important to him than any mission. Somehow this Kishin-wanna-be punk had the chutzpah to spit on it. Grey set down the witch
"Wha. What are you doing? We need to go to the DWMA." The witch pointlessly pleaded. Grey's shadow coalesced into a solid form, and threw its last two daggers into the links of Lunartic's chain. He hoped to wedge them into the ground, and get the ends of the daggers wedged in the concrete.
"You can go ahead. This jerk has a lesson to learn."
(OOC: I forgot the witch's color code.) |
