The Pitcairn Islands

Charim nods, some of the pain leaving her eyes. "I don't care for them...I don't want another child to have to watch their mother die...Not if I can prevent it..."

She nods. "I know, but...I just...the parents always die first...The screams....I still hear her screams..." She collapses against the wall, faint. "I-I'm sorry....Let's find another target..."

Charim blushes, leaning weakly against him. "I-I'm sorry...you're hungry and need souls, and I'm letting my past get in the way..."

Charim nods. "I know....I'm with you....and I'm sorry." She pulls away, standing.

Charim looks up at him. "What are you talking about?"

She shakes her head. "Let's just get on with it...Nothing else matters right now...."

She remounts her broom, gesturing for him to join her. "We'll find something...."

Charim flies over the city before finding a group of men roaming the streets. She takes the broom above them, dropping from the broom and right into the group. Before they can react, the fins on her forearms extend, and in a flash instead of the men are 5 human souls. She calls her broom, and Reaver, down to the ground.

Charim calls her broom back to her, sitting on it and not saying a word.

She nods, still not speaking. Her broom spins around lightly, making her face away from him. A soft sob can be heard.

Charim flies a few feet away. "I-I'm fine...D-Don't worry about it."

Charim's broom turns around and she looks at him, some tears falling down her face. "I-I have killed men before, but now...after that house, all I can think about is 'Did I rob a child of their father?'. I-I am supposed to be a ruthless killer, have been a ruthless killer, but now....I-I feel...."
