Few things can be much more worrisome than silence: complete and total, utter silence. In nature, it is a warning sound, the congregation of every prey masking every evidence of their life for fear of losing it. The sound of the food chain collectively seeking out the death signs in the hopes of avoiding them, that is silence. When it falls, one could hear the grass shift or grow, the drop of a pin, a hat, paper... sounds that could the less careful away, but provide the wise the distraction needed to mask their own escape. With this instinctive, hard-wired nature in mind, however, what then does one do upon silence's unexpected, unprecedented approach?

Grey scale is not a hue series predictable of nature; especially in the presence of life, this is astonishingly true. Concrete coated the ground in a remarkably even measure, no blemish of smoothness in sight, or even to be found. A dark, stained glaze painted it's flat surface and perpindictible structure in scattered, misaligned smearings, laying out frozen puddles and irregular lines. Light filtered to no substantial degree, the space illuminated only by the feline eyes staring into it.

It was in the midst of this forsaken, concrete room that one poor soul was meeting the end of their sanity. There are certain things known to drive a human insane; both total silence and loneliness are among them. Couple this with the unknown, with the knowledge of the fact that one knows nothing, of their predicament, their location, or their fate, and you have a recipe for someone driving their very own self into a madness not too unlike that of a Kishin. When this becomes painted with the adrenaline high that accompanies a survivor's instincts, you reach a tenderization the likes of which can sate even the most sadistic carnivore's pallet.

A feline can be exactly that.

The victim present, a young adult male somewhere in his twenty-somethings had been bound to the chair at the room's center for several weeks, now, though he had little concept of such, now. He'd been forced facing an old clock that was, in fact, out of sync with the proper way of time. Still, the pendulum echo that resounded through the room was both calming and maddening at once, enough to give him some inkling of how long he'd been trapped, but not enough to provide any real accuracy, especially when brought to terms with sleep. He'd been fed somewhat regularly, force-fed, more of, though her knew not with or by what. Whoever held him had kept him alive, to what end, no one knew.

Still, his sense of reason was failing, and now that there was assuredly no way for him to escape the room, the being that watched over him released his bonds, presenting him, simultaneously, with a plate of food. The man lunged for it hungrily, kneeling down on bones that were unaccustomed to movement, now. She watched, pacing the area from above, seeing what he'd become. Before long, he'd be gone, and ripe for the taking. The creature had already decided that she'd relish the kill for herself, rather than letting him starve.

The man was the first of nine to fall victim to the Lich's terror in that room. She tormented her victims until they became mad, from isolation and repetitive sound, deprivation of necessities, whatever she felt so inclined towards. Eventually, they'd bring about their own demise, and the lich would appear inside, plucking away at the soul left behind and leaving the corpses to the rats. It became increasingly more amusing to her to leave the rotting bodies in the room with victims that followed. Eventually, however, she became bored, abandoning the space post a spat of arson to cover up what evidence she might have left behind. Soon, she was left on the prowl once more.
