Wedding Plans

Dowan bangs her head against the table. This was crazy, why was this so hard? Sighing, she put the finishing touches on the last invitation. At least her classes were done for the summer, so they had time. Her mom was on the phone with Sylas' mom, energetically talking about decorations. They were doing it simple and light, and Dowan was relieved. She hated big flashy things, so this was good.

But she hadn't really been to talk to her fiancee in months. They were busy, but they were happy.

They picked her birthday as the date. June 15.

Her mom gave her a bright smile from where she stood, and Dowan gave her maid of honor, Rose, the last invitation.

Rose looks it over and sighs. "I suppose I can't help but be happy for you two..."

Sylas steps back from his project, his arms turning from axes back to human hands. He wipes some sweat from his brow before looking it over, nodding contentedly. This was going to be his gift to Dowan, and he hoped she liked it. He smiles, throwing a tarp over it and heading to his bike, driving back to their apartment and walking up the stairs. He knocks three times on the door. "Can I come in?"

"Of course silly, this is your house too." She calls out, earning a snort from Rose.

Rose leans back in the chair she's sitting in, smirking. "And here we observe the happy couple in their natural habitat..."

Sylas enters, walking over to her and kneeling on the floor next to her. "How goes it?"

Dowan stuck her tongue out at Rose, "Says the girl dating my infallible brother. It goes fine. Rose and I set out the last invitation. I can't believe it's coming so fast. Two weeks. " She looked over at Rose, "The dress that was ordered arrives today. Mom, Rose and I are going to try it on and bring it to the dry cleaners. I can't believe even I haven't seen my own dress. That's what I get for letting my mom and best friend pick out my dress." she rolls her eyes.

He kisses her softly. "Relax. You've got both our mothers and hopefully Rose..." He shoots her a glance and she rolls her eyes. "...help you out. It's all going to be fine..."

Kissing him back, she laughs softly, "I'll be alright. Pre-Wedding jitters, you know?"

He smiles, standing and stretching. "Yeah, I know...It'll be fine..."

"Dowan baby, it's time for us to go!" Her mother said, walking from the kitchen. Dowan and her mother didn't look much alike, except for the eyes, and the fact that their vision is terrible. Mostly because her mother was scottish and Japanese. Dowan sighed, and she and Rose headed out with her mother.

They headed to the bridal shop, when the man in charge beckoned them forward gleefully. He motioned for Rose and her mother to wait there, and Dowan went to the back with him. Dowan emerges later, smiling shyly.

Rose's eyes widen at the sight, her mouth slightly agape. "W-Wow...."

"Thanks." Dowan said slightly blushing. Her mom was crying, and Dowan almost wanted to roll her eyes. It was a gorgeous dress. And it felt great. She walks in the back, getting changed and carrying the box with her. "Let's go!" She said brightly. They leave, dropping the dress off and grabbing pizza on the way home. They enter the apartment, chatting loudly and smiling happily.

Sylas sits on the couch, reading a book. He smiles at them as they enter. "How'd it go?"

"Fantastic!" Dowan bounced, popping down on the couch, glomping her fiancee. "I missed you." She said into his shirt.

Sylas runs a hand through her hair, hugging her. "You were only gone about half an hour....but I missed you too."

Dowan giggled, leaning upward to kiss him, "Have you thought about the honeymoon yet?"

He blushes, returning the kiss. "Not yet...is there anywhere you'd like to go?"

"Anywhere with you." Dowan said quietly, "But anywhere we can both enjoy..."

Sylas hugs her tightly. "How about the Caribbean. We could take a cruise....or go to the Bahamas..."

"Whatever is good with you! Make it a surprise!"

He kisses her. "Fine, a surprise it is...Say, do you know where Kyllic is? I'm making him my best man...Icarus didn't respond...."

"Should be in his room." Dowan said smiling, then frowning. It had been almost six months since they had seen Icarus and they hadn't heard from him.

"Well, I should probably put the finishing touches on things. See if I got everything. Love you."

He blows a kiss before heading to Kyllic's room. He knocks on the door. "You in there?" He still couldn't read how Kyllic felt about the whole thing, and he was sure this would help...

"Come in." Kyllic pulls open the door, and nods for him to come in. "What's up?" He asked conversationally.

Sylas takes a deep breath. "I'd like to ask if you would do your sister and I the honor of being my best man?"

Kyllic nods, "You're actually going to marry my sister." He snorts.
