Bright rays of spring sunlight illuminated the small tea café and made minuscule, airborne grains of dust glint and shine at random like tiny stars. It was a genuinely cosy shop that appeared to be quite popular to residents from well off families. At carefully determined places, taking both view, privacy and efficiency into account, were placed small round tables fitting no more than four people at once. Each of the tables were covered by perfectly white, embroidered table cloths without even a single stain on them. On top of them were placed a tiny vase containing flowers in the colours of spring that only added another charm to the tea café. For the ones with a sweet tooth, a small plate with four different kinds of freshly baked biscuits had been placed beside the vases, encouraging the costumers to happily indulge in their sweet tastes. Even in the early morning hours, half of the tables at the café were occupied, all, except one, solely by women whose voices made up a soft, cheerful background humming.
Breathing in deeply with his eyes lightly closed, Nathaniel took the time to properly savour the fragrance of his still warm Chinese jasmine tea. He sat with his left leg crossed on top of his right and back straight, holding a teacup decorated with red roses and golden edge close to his lips. Currently he was the only male in the tea café, which happened to earn him quite a bit of glances from the other female costumers. The woman sitting in front of him was likewise being scrutinized, as she sat there with a pair of glasses dangling on the tip of her nose and eyes buried in a small stack of papers. Each piece of paper was covered in small elegant letters, evident of someone who had taken great care with choosing their words and at the same time making them easily readable.
It was incredible boring, to say the least. You think there would be some reasonably admirable gossip rolling around, but there was hardly a single rumor to bask in. He knew that there were many other things he should be concerned about, such as finding a weapon partner, but he was simply out of luck. He sighed and set his cup down before taking a step outside, running straight into someone that was coming inside.
