Crona's Gender

In the manga I believe she's portrayed as a girl were in the anime he's portrayed as a boy. So the answer really is up in the air right now!

I can solve this! In both the anime and the manga there are no NATURAL male witches, right? Crona's mother is a witch and yet Crona shows no magical abilities. It is also shown that Crona has a tendency to be nervous around girls (this could also be viewed as yuri though?) Another thing that really makes me think of Crona as a boy is that Ragnarok WAS a guy. I say was because as a large quantity of blood, he no longer has gender I'd imagine. My point is, Ragnarok was a guy, so to prevent Ragnarok from getting distracted (as he's shown as a little perverted) I'd have to believe Crona is a guy.

On the other hand...

Crona has befriended Maka and Mary in a very close way. This could be evidence of Crona preferring the female gender as friends. That could also be construed by Crona's timid nature as well because in Soul Eater most of the girls are more companionate than the guys. Then there is Crona's voice, which is either a pre-pubescent boy or a deeper girl in both the english and japanese animes.

So I do believe Crona is a guy, but I also agree that there is evidence pointing to the female gender. In the end, we just gotta hope the creator does something about it one day. (Unlikely...)

I have to disagree about girls in SE being more compassionate. I mean, Medusa and Arachne are pretty ruthless. And Crona befrending Maka might just be hinting that it's into her, but it doesn't know how to deal with that kind-of relationship. Which makes sense for someone who was literally in the closet for practically weeks at a time. (see what I did there? Because it's a small dark room? And nobody knows Crona's genderismsorwhatever?)

Besides, even though Medusa put Crona in a dress as a kid, Medusa's not exactly up on current fashion (Baby Bloomers) and people used to dress little boys up like that back in the day.

How about we just say Crona is Crona. Because this will never be resolved, considering everyone's opinions, and the lack of COMPLETE evidence for both genders. Personally, I think it's more of a boy, but it could be a girl. Who knows, who cares. Crona is Crona and its one of my favorite characters on the show....

Crona's gender is canon, actually. In the Commentary of the official 1st disc, they mention that Crona's gender is neutral. But I prefer a girl because Ragnarok is a perv in the manga.
