Dreams and Reality

She still hadn't woken up. It had been a week since the training exercise, and Rose Hammer continued to sleep. Sylas dropped by when he could, though that became increasingly difficult since he returned broken the previous day. Still she slept, and no one could determine why. It was simply the reality.

Kyllic was still pissed beyond belief. Why must she have overexerted herself? He sat by the bed, staring stone-like into the distance, the coma separating their souls. And he felt so alone. And his heart ached.

Kyllic sighed, closing his eyes. He pushed his soul as far as it could go, to envelope hers. Pain seared through his body, making him drop to his knees.

"Well fine then." His soul harumphed. "I was just trying to help. No need to kick my ass over it."

Her soul weakly berated him. Sperated and weak as it was, it felt his touch and flared lightly inresponse, if only to call him an idiot.

He sighed, "I wish you would come back to me. You're all I really have." His mind brings back flashbacks to the six months they had been together, and having the house to themselves, and if it were any other time he would have blushed. But he had a feeling that these memories were important. "I love you. Just remember that." He starts to pull away.

Her hand twitches, growing imperceptively closer to him.

Kyllic takes it lightly, lying down in the uncomfortable chair-bed that he made beside her. His hand grips her tighter, then loosens as he falls asleep.

The scene transforms, this time it was his soul. It was meadow, the meadow that he first admitted his love for her. He just sat, staring up at the sun, relaxed. A thousand different scientific notations were forming through his head, thinking of the way the universe was made. It was a peaceful thing. But he was missing something, something important...what was it? Something no equation could find out. He frowns, what had he forgotten?

A whisper, a hollow shade, of Rose lays beside him. Not really there, but at the same time fully present. She says nothing, simply enjoying his company.

"Rose." It dawned on him, "What I'm missing is a rose." A simple little rose grew out of the ground, and he smiled, "You were my missing piece all along, weren't you?" He asked the rose, smiling. He could figure out the anatomy of this perfect flower, the rose. But he frowned, as he remembered that Roses wilted quickly if you didn't water them and keep them in the sunlight.

He would take of this Rose. It was the thing that made him complete. He patted the flower affectionately.

The whisper grins lightly, her voice echoing across the field on a breeze. "Of course that's what you were missing, dummy. How could it be any simpler?"

Kyllic just stares up at the sky, "I can only hear you. I wish I could see you. A sight better than what I didn't do."

"I just don't understand," He mumbles, staring at the rose, "Why is that you complete me, and yet you can wilt at anytime." He touches the flower, "Why did your soul choose one as incompetent as mine? I can't keep the flower from wilting. Obviously I'm not smart."

The whisper sits up, wrapping its arms around him in a hug. "You doofus. I don't need someone who can stop me from wilting, and you aren't incompetant. You do your best and you try your hardest and you're the smartest guy I know, but even you should be able to see that you can't stop a rose from wilting each fall. Things happen, and sometimes you just can't do anything about it..."

"Just come back to me, when you can," He breathed her in, "I don't think I could make it without you."

Rose nuzzles him. "I will. I'll be back as soon as possible..."

Kyllic smiled, "That's all I need to know. I can rest easy now."

Rose smiles, kissing him softly. "Now wake up...It's morning."
