Beyril's Return?! (Closed)

The halls of the academy were barren, though that was to be expected between classes. Finally, she had awoken, and was free of the infirmary. Her head still throbbed, and her body ached, but more than anything, she just wished she had something to eat. But, with the absence of all her former friends and comrades, it seemed she was doomed to try and figure out where she could get food, or even simply groceries to make her own, by herself. She shuffled down the hall, kicking an imaginary pebble in her path as she toyed with the blonde ends of her red hair, her slouched hat bouncing with each step, and the hummed melody under her breath little more than whispers of notes on the wind.

From the other direction of the hall walked another girl. This one walked with a slouched gait, and had the hood of her grey sweatshirt pulled firmly over her head. Claire took each step carefully, and kept her eyes down, flicking them up on occasion just to make sure that she wasn't going to bump into anyone. When she saw Beyril, she ducked to the side of the hall, making room for the meister to pass, and pulling the strings of her hood even tighter, although they were as tight as they would go.

Beyril's eyes followed the girl curiously as she walked past, "Hey!" she called, a happy and inviting smile on her face, "Wanna get lunch?"

Claire's back stiffened a bit as she was called on, but she eased up a bit when she saw the girl's smile. She nodded a few times, and when she spoke she sounded quiet and reserved. "S-Sure... M-My sister is h-home sick a-and didn't pack a lunch..."

"Good! I'm starving." she grinned, "How much has the city changed in the last few months? I know, an odd question. I'm just curious if any of the burger places are still close by."

Ikaru and Kazuko were making a good deal of noise as they walked through the halls, laughing. Some teachers had told them to be quiet, but they didn't pay them much mind. They didn't really bother going to class any more, even though they really should've it was their first day back in Death City. They needed some time to cool off. After a while of walking and talking they came across two others in the hall, one of Ikaru recognized. "Beyril? That you? Damn...must've missed a lot since I've been gone huh?" He smiled and his twin just shook his head.

Beyril laughed, her cheeks turning pink, "Yeah... It's... been a while. What have I missed?"

Savannah was walking back towards the training grounds after stepping inside to use the bathroom. She raised a brow at the gathering of people, not paying them much mind as she brushed down the edges of her dress, eyes watching them in silence.

Claire nodded a bit. "T-There're a few burger joints a-around..." When Claire began to hear the noise, she ducked to the side of the hallway, away from the three in the middle of the hallway. She pulled her drawstrings a little, just toying with them really.

Ikaru and Kazuko looked at each other and shrugged looking back to her. "We wouldn't know. We've been away from Death City for a few months now." "Yep. Travelling the world, stopping evil at every corner." Ikaru chuckled and shook his head. "I wouldn't call it saving he world so much as gathering information for our fellow students."

Beyril blinked at the two girls who appeared, but smiled welcomingly anyways, "I'm Beyril, by the way. Beyril Stone. Nice to meet you both!" she glanced to Savannah, "You are welcome to come eat with us, too."

The girl gave her a curious look before offering a slight, slow nod and stepping over to them. "Savannah Fukui." She said simply, watching each of them, noting the talkative girl meister's still healing injuries, the curious way that the boys seemed to finish each other's sentences. The quiet one in the hoodie did not escape her notice either, though she said nothing other than her name.

"Where are you from?" she asked, smile ever-present, "I've not heard your name before."

Claire looked up at Beyril. "C-Claire..." She said nothing besides that, returning to playing with the strings, glancing up every once in a while and debating the pros and cons of leaving before she had the extreme displeasure of going into a panic.

Kazuko noticed the other girl who revealed her name to be Savannah and he waved. "Nice to meet you! I'm Kazuko and this is my twin bro, Ikaru! We're from Japan as you can probably tell." Ikaru laughed and clapped him upside the head. "I don't think you had to mention that man. Pretty obvious." Kazuko rubbed his head with a wide grin and his cheeks began to flush as he did so. Ikaru heard a girl speak up and looked over at the one in the hoodie who said her name was Claire and he gave a small wave. "Nice to meet you as well. My idiot brother here gave the introduction so...not much else to tell." He gave her a friendly smile and held out his hand to her, seemingly oblivious to her shy nature.

Savannah shrugged, "I've been here for years." she said, looking at the others. "Beyril Stone, age 16, no weapon since your previous partner went missing. You are among the fastest and are able to adjust your wavelength and personality to fit others." Her eyes scanned over the woman, finally resting at her eyes an inch shorter than the analyzer herself. "Your ribs are cracked, you have a head wound on the same side as well as a limp. Also," she gestured to her arm absently. "Your wrist is cracked. No one has seen you for the passed several months as you were comatose." Her brows raised slightly. "Have I gotten anything wrong?"

Her eyes widened, "No... You... haven't. How did you know all that?" she asked, "That's brilliant!" she grinned.

Claire looked at the other girl with a bit of frightened look. Someone that able to see others. She pressed harder against the wall, her breathing picking up just a bit as she felt a panic run through her.

She shrugged before looking to the twins and nodding in way of greeting. "I listen and observe. That's what I do." Her calm mask altered slightly as she looked to Claire, offering a friendly smile. "No one here is a threat to you, Claire. If it would make you more comfortable, you can bring your sister with us."

Kazuko was very intrigued by the girl that could practically read minds and blurted out, "Bet you can't tell much about me. Other than uh...I have a twin...and am Japanese." even with those two facts out there already, he still wore a smug smile as he crossed his arms. Ikaru then proceeded to clap him over the head once more.

Beyril looked to the twins with a smile, "That was cool, wasn't it?" she then turned back to Savannah, "So you don't read wavelengths? You just can observe all that?"

"[color:dfa7=#ffcx00]Kazuko Tagani, or Tagani Kazuki back home. Age fifteen." She began, eyes scanning over him in a matter of seconds. "You are not currently paired with anyone, if I am correct." She adjusted her footing, watching them both. "You are flirtier than your brother, the class clown, the playful and less serious of the two. You like to embarress him if and when you are able to do so. You are also aware," she waved to Ikaru, "of your brother's relationship, though I will say no more about it."

Claire simply stared at Savanah, the strings of her hoodie loosening some. She swallowed a lump in her throat several times before speaking up, though her voice was little more than a squeak. "S-Sarah's home s-sick..."

Kazuko's smug smile curled up into a wide grin as she listed each thing. "Holy crap! It's all spot on! I mean, we turn sixteen tomorrow and that was Ikaru's past relationship but- oh..." He looked back at Ikaru who bit his lip slightly, but waved it off. "Don't worry about Kazuko...that happened a while ago...I'm over it."

Savannah nodded, "Apologies, I did not wish to cause distress. Also, I believe cheers are in order for your birthday?" She offered a bit of a bow. "Happy birthday to you both. Beyril," she nodded to her, "I apologize for the late answer. No, I do not read wavelengths, merely people. I can do that with the... non-gifted as well. Sometimes better, actually. And Claire," another nod, "I apologize. I had not yet seen her and only assumed. What would make you more comfortable?" She took a step back, more than well aware of the girl's fear.
