A Guest for the Night (Private Beyril Oblivion)

He nodded, standing and brushing his legs. "Can you take me to her?"

"Not until she wakes, I'm afraid. Though I can't say how long that will be."

He only gave another solemn nod. "Please, tell me when she wakes up..." He slid gracefully back into his seat, laying his head on his hand, and waiting.

The nurse nodded, and left the room.

A few hours later, she came back in, "She's awake. She's disoriented and very confused, though, so please try not to stress her out."

He nodded, standing and following her to Asuka's room. He took gentle steps inside, and took a seat across from her bed, smiling gently.

Asuka laid in her bed, her eyes halfway closed and her head bandaged where they had cut her hair away on one side and into her skull. She looked like she had been hit in the face with a shovel, but nonetheless she attempted a smile, "Hey..."

He held up a hand. "Don't talk. Save your strength..." He looked towards the ground, sliding his hands together. "I should apologize. I didn't recognize the signs before you'd already collapsed..."

She gave a slight head-shake, "Don't worry about it now. It's the past."

Sylas nodded, pulling his hood down, seeming to have forgotten that he was still dressed in his cloak.

She let her eyes close, though she was still awake, "Remind me never to do whatever I did again..."

He nodded, smiling. "I'll make sure there's never an occasion..."

"Then we have to stop anyone like Nebun from ever getting that close." She insisted.

He nodded, closing his eyes for a few moments, and when they opened they were normal once more. "I'll get stronger, and make sure people like him won't have the chance to get close ever again..."

"It's not all about you, you know." She chuckled, though she winced at the movement it brought, "In the end, what separates the good guys from the bad guys is always that the good guys have friends. We're a team, Sylas. All of us."

Loathe as I am to agree with her, she's right... He smiled and nodded, to both of their words. "Of course. Thank you."

Asuka offered a pained smile, "Good. Now, you should probably get back to your wife. I'm sure she's worried."

Sylas nodded once more, standing and bowing his head. "Feel better. Asuka. We need you at your best..." He made for the door, stopping the nurse in the hall. "Please tell me if she gets better or worse, please."

The nurse nodded, "We will."

He nodded his appreciation, before leaving the hospital, headed home.
