Weapon:  Darien carries with him an enchanted compact mirror that allows him to create physical images of himself, or his foes, to fight for him. He does this by tapping into the person's emotional signature and carries it through the light reflected off the mirror.  Darien can create up to ten copies, but they are more powerful if there are less. They are used mostly as a distraction and aren't frequently called upon.

Animal Form: White ermine with violet eyes.  In his animal form he is agile and able to slip away from fights undetected.  His fur catches the rays of the sun, literally, and he is able to release an intense light to blind his enemies. He is still able to use his empathic abilities in his animal form.

Appearance: Darien is a 5"9, lanky young man with short white hair. Much like his animal form, his hair can capture the rays of the sun and glows by varying degrees depending on his mood.  He has wide, violet colored eyes that will turn deep purple if angered or a light lavender when enamored. His Skin is light and glossy with a slight peach colored flush in his cheeks.  His body is fit and compact like a runner's, which he uses to flirt with other men to get close to their keepsakes. He is very casual when it comes to dress, although he will dress formally to please the public.  He likes to wear loose white clothing because it reflects the most light. Darien likes to wear purple colored flip flops to feel the warmth of the sun on his ankles. Though he prefers to keep his valuables stashed away somewhere safe he sometimes adorns himself with gold bangles, necklaces and earrings; but he never brags about his belongings. Darien detests cruelty to animals and hates fur coats and taxidermy. He finds it demeaning to the animal's memory and pride; also he has had personal experience with a psychopathic furrier.      

Personality: Darien is very much a hedonist.  He enjoys the physical world and involves himself in many pleasurable things. He is very social and enjoys good company, but detests braggarts and show offs.  He is witty, has a good sense of humor and is a bit of a goofball around others.  He's a big flirt with guys he thinks are cute and he knows how to evoke moods and feelings in them. He often uses this to his advantage to attract more people to him in order to steal their valuables.  A natural pick pocket, he takes whatever he thinks the people won't miss or he finds valuable.  Valuable, in his mind, isn't merely what the object is made of it's the perceived value of others that the object has been imprinted with chiefly it's sentimental value.

Darien is a natural empath and can sense emotions that are sealed within an object, thus giving it sentimental value.  Any item that holds sentimental energy is considered valuable to Darien, but the shiny variety are the sort items that peak his interest the most.  He has an insatiable love for shiny things and collects many for himself. He feels that everyone loves things that are beautiful and vibrant so he adopts a glittering exterior, believing others will love him and they usually do.  He does this without ever becoming boastful; he knows deep down no one likes a braggart because they attract unwanted attention. Darien is considered a coward by some and wise by others because he avoids fights. He doesn't like conflict and this seems contradictory due to his chosen lifestyle. He would prefer to avoid any and all confrontation; if he senses a deal is about to go wrong he won't hesitate to negotiate reasonable terms. This is usually rare for him because he deals mostly with humans and hasn't had much contact with other sorcerers or witches.    

History: Darien was born in a small village in New England. He never knew his who his mother or father was.  He lived in an orphanage until he was 8.  One October's night a group of men kidnapped Darien along with 10 other children.  One by one the children were sold off as slaves to rich men to satisfy their vile desires. Darien, on th other hand, had been sold to a peculiar looking man wrapped in all manner of fur based vestments.  The man introduced himself as a furrier and a powerful magician.  Through the power of enchantment he convinced to the auctioneer to sell Darien to him for nothing.  The magician then trapped Darien in his animal form and took him to his warehouse.  There Darien was locked in a small cage with other ermines. The Magician explained to Darien just how rare of a soul he was and that he intended to use the magic in his skin to create a coat possessing Darien's shape shifting abilities. The magician held up a small jar and told Darien he would collect his soul and sell it for a pretty price. For six days Darien was locked in his cage to freeze and starve. He'd listen to the footsteps of the magician going over to cages and taking helpless animals to be skinned alive for their pelts.  The shrill cries of the animals sent Darien into a spiral of madness that continues to haunt him to this day.  Though it was a truly nightmarish experience, Darien would survive it and find a new enriched life.

The magician had spent a great deal of energy one day and felt exhausted. He sat in a chair and fell asleep, never suspecting what would happen next.  Darien caught sight of a shiny object peaking out of the magician's fur lined pockets, a key.  Daren was too far away to reach it, or so he thought.  He remembered one day at the orphanage he made a bowl of soup hover to his place at the table for lunch.  It had been the happiest day he'd ever felt, because bullies in the orphanage later feared what he was capable of.  Darien had used his ability to lift the key out of the magician's pocket and unlocked every cage in the warehouse. He, along with the animals set themselves upon the magician. They pushed him into a blast furnace and watched him slowly roast to death.  Darien returned to his normal form and was rescued along with the remaining animals.  Darien was adopted by a loving human couple living in New England.  They owned a small shop filled with all manner of glittering objects that Darien grew very fond of. This, however, would not be the enriched life that was in store for Darien.  When Darien was 13 the shop was raided by men and set on fire. The couple were killed in the fire, and Darien was left alone once again.

Eventually, through several robberies, Darien amassed a small inventory of valuable items.  He became a traveling salesman for two years. Eventually he became a shrewd business man, often using his powers as an empath to influence people's purchases. He became so proficient he was able to convince customers to lose interest in their personal belongings and reluctantly trade them for less valuable items; only if he felt they wouldn't need it.  His power of empathy became more proficient over those two years.  He became a very convincing actor, able to appear so wretched and worthy of pity that people couldn't help but toss a few coins his way. He could do this and remain unrecognizable and eventually he could appear to others as someone else by tapping into that person's emotional signature. With this ability he learned to keep a low profile and eventually he'd use it to make even more profit.

With the aid of his empathic abilities Darien could listen in on other people's conversations without them noticing. He took the time to listen to the gossip of the people around him, mostly the ones concerning mob bosses and corrupt business men. He'd find out where and when they met with their underlings and follow them there in animal form. When hidden he'd listen in on the conversations they had.  If anything seemed particularly interesting Darien would use his empathic powers to insight the mob boss to divulge his secrets to everyone else.   Other mob bosses came to Darien with large sums of money to buy these secrets.  This would last about two additional years before Darien had to move again. His dealings with the mob bosses had caused a pivotal collapse in their empire and earned Darien a place as number one on their hit lists. Darien left the town he'd grown accustomed to and headed west.

Darien traveled to Nevada and bought a book on magic from a witch.  He studied the craft page by page and grew more proficient in his empathic abilities and telekinesis. He learned spells to enchant objects. He cast a spell over a compact mirror he obtained from a wealthy landowner.  The mirror could create living images of Dariens foes to fight along side him. He also learned how to enchant his hair follicles so they could absorb the suns rays for later use. Eventually he found himself at a road side diner.  Whilst eating he overheard talk of Death City and the Death Weapon Meister Academy. He learned how its students worked together to fight and eliminate kishin and witches for their souls. He also learned that some witches were granted asylum on the condition that they no longer use their magic for destructive purposes. After hearing this a pair of men entered the diner and stared daggers at Darien.  They were weapon and meister and knew Darien was a sorcerer.  Together the attacked Darien but he managed to escape in a blinding flash of light.  He fled to Death city to find a business he read about in a flyer, "Chupa Cabra's", to seek employment.

Known Spells
Spell of concealment: Allows Darien to go undetected or in the guise of someone else through public areas.  This power has its limits because it cannot conceal his soul wavelength.  Even if he appears as someone else, or vanishes from sight, a meister could easily sense his soul wavelength and identify him as a sorcerer.
Evoked Emotion: On occasion Darien can evoke certain feelings in others via magic.
Radiant Beacon: Releases a powerful flash of light to blind enemies.
 Spell of Intangibility: Allows Darien to phase through solid objects (does not make him invulnerable to meister/weapon attacks).  
Repelling Jinx: Allows Darien to deflect moderate attacks and most people.
Refracted Self: Through the use of his compact mirror Darien is able to create weaker duplicates of himself or his foes to fight along side him.
