Another Year Older - Beyril's Apartment (MATURE) (Lani and Beyril)

Beyril hummed to herself along with the thrumming guitar mellowly playing from her speakers on her table. Finishing the last of the dishes, she reached up to tenderly place them in the cabinet. As far as she could tell, everyone else was still asleep and she had no desire to wake them. Tony had been sleeping soundly when she wriggled out from under his arm and into the kitchen to clean. Lately she had been an early riser, and her legs tingled and were antsy to an extent that prohibited her from laying still. So she'd clean. Even if everything was already tidy.
She opened the fridge and grabbed the styrofoam carton of eggs, and a baggie of ham and shredded cheese, and a handful of veggies and set to chopping them on her red plastic board, letting the oven warm up a skillet for her to make breakfast omelettes on.

Savannah had arisen long before Beyril was even aware, though it took several minutes to unhinge herself from her fiance's grasp. This done, she had set about making online arrangements, checking up on various accounts and things that actually related to her work alike. Everything had been set up long ago, though she was more than well aware of the fact that Beyril liked to switch between forgetting her birthday and telling them to ignore it. Of course, neither was a possibility and her friend was not about to let the day go unnoticed. Beyril was better than that. Beyond such amnesia.

In time, she stepped out of the room, a blanket bundle wrapped around her with her now cat curled soundly in it, and a simple paper gift bag in hand. If nothing else, she was going to seem like she wasn't making a big deal out of the occasion.

"Bey, what have I told you about not needing to feed all of humanity?"

Beyril perked up, hair like a flame whirling around her head, "Oh! Did I wake you up? I was just gonna make some omelettes. Maybe pancakes too..."

"And how do you propose we were going to consume as much food as we both know you'd make?" She shook her head, holding the simply bag out in front of her. The weight of it seemed unreasonable given the bag, but Savannah cared not. "Happy birthday, fireball."

Beyril didn't let her eyes move from inspecting the oddity of the gift bag, as though it hadn't clicked yet, before she flipped the omlette out on a plate and took it, "Oh! That is today, isn't it? You didn't have to get me anything..." she mused, poking around in the bag.

As understandably as could be, there was a collection of standard spa supplies --- one of those gift packs with bath salts, shower gel, lotion, a loofah and a pedi stone --- as well as a card and a tiny stuffed fire bird that looked like it was from a video game. "You knew that I was going to anyway."

Beyril sat the stuffed bird on her head and smiled, "Awh, it's sweet! I'll have to take a bath later. Maybe scrub Tony's feet." she giggled, hugging Savannah around the cat. "I love it."

Savannah merely grinned, hugging her back in turn, letting her believe, for the moment, that she had actually behaved for once. Even still,she watched her. "You two have a date tonight or anything?"

Beyril shrugged, "Usually he springs it on me. I don't work today or tomorrow though, so I suppose I'm free for when he decides on it." She grinned, sniffing the soaps.

Savannah's eyes rolled. Of course, she should have known better. She could know Tony like the back of her hand, but somehow, it still didn't register that he wouldn't make this as predictable or easy as she expected it to be. "Good thing they gave you the days off. Most places won't for birthdays. Most." She eyed Beyril curiously, a bit worried. "If you don't eat at least a piece of toast soon, I'm going to test your sugar again."

Beyril poked out her tongue, "I'm working on it, see?" she handed Savannah an omlette, "Mine is next, unless someone else comes up."

"You think that the boys will be awake any time soon?" As if in protest, the bundle at her chest mewed, looking up at them curiously as if disturbed.

Beyril shrugged, "Tony likes to sleep in on his days off. And I think Akira likes to wake up early to get his brooding quota met." she giggled at her own joke, then tapped Mika on the head, "I hear you. I'll get you food too."

The cat seemed to let out a smug sound, a rather fair indication of just how spoiled the babe had become. Savannah sighed, shaking her head as she made her way over to her usual spot for breakfast. "Anything that you want me to help with?" The fellow meister asked, unwrapping the cat and letting her wander.

Beyril shrugged, cooking a piece of ham inside an egg for the cat, "I mean, I don't have any plans for the day, so the current level of cleanliness should be fine..."

"Okay." She said, looking at her, eyebrow cocked, "And what besides cooking and cleaning? You're our landlord not our housekeeper."

Beyril scrunched her face in a sort of odd displeasure with the word, "Ick... That makes me sound like some kind of old lady... I don't like it. Can we not say 'landlord' again?"

"La teased, making up a word. "Either way, its in your name, Ms. Stone."dykeeper,"She

Beyril made a 'yech' sound and wrinkled her face, "Still makes me sound old. God, with a Miss before it too! An old maid." she laughed, setting the egg and meat neatly folded omelette in front of the cat.

Mika practically pounced on the food, knawing at it hungrily, as though it had never been fed. Savannah, meanwhile, was laughing, shaking her head. "You are a 'miss,' Bey. In case you missed the memo. Adult and single, legally."

Beyril sighed, "Makes me feel like a fifty year old with six cats."

"I'm the only one with a cat," she said simply, petting the young one as she devoured her food, "You just have two and a half tenants, given that Tony practically lives here."
