If you paint flames on your skates will it make them go faster? (Private || Arc and Rackie)

"Yeah, sure." Angela said as she pulled a phone out of a leather phone pocket attached to her belt. She quickly selected her number on the list of contacts and showed it to Chauncey, to allow him to save it. "By the way, that enchanter you saw back in the cafe. Would you like to meet him? I mean, properly meet him? He's a friend of my sister. Actually, back then it was her arm he was fixing." She said, remembering that Mark would probably love to meet a fellow enchanter.

Chauncey saved the number in his own phone, shooting her a quick text so she could save his from there. "Yeah, it was attached to her, so I figured," Chauncey said, sticking his tongue out. He had gotten a good look inside the arm when he was being nosy. "Can't hurt to meet, so why not?"

Angela saved his number and hid the phone back inside her pocket. "Oh, I just wanted to make sure you know which one of the girls at the counter was my sister." Angela said, shrugging. "Well, I guess he should still be inside. Let's go." She said before walking over to the door to Nine-Tails.

"I wasn't sure if that was your sister, I was just trying to joke," Chauncey said before he followed her. This time, though, he didn't wait for her to open the door, getting through it just fine without issue. He did, however, hold it for her.

"Oh, thanks!" Angela said before getting inside. There was a smile on her face the whole time.
It looked like Mark was done fixing Aurora's arm because she was helping Luna unload the dishes from the dishwasher. Mark, however, was enjoying a cup of tea at the counter while having a conversation with Minerva.
"Hey, Mark! I want you to meet someone." Angela said after approaching the toolmaker. "This is Chauncey, he's also an enchanter." She said as she pointed her hand at the person she was introducing.
"He was actually looking over your shoulder while you were fixing Aurora's tool. You didn't notice. This is a level of focus I've never seen before." Minerva commented.
Mark shook his head and approached Chauncey with a polite smile present on his face. "My apologies. I really do tend to get so focused on a task I do not notice what is going on around me." He told him, before extending a hand for a handshake. "Mark Kozak. It is a pleasure to meet a fellow enchanter." He said.

Chauncey extended his hand to shake, pulling back the sleeve covering it as he did so. "Chauncey Strout. Likewise," he said as he shook his hand. "I couldn't help but look inside that arm while you were working on it. It was kind of amazing," he said. Seeing just that was enough to make Chauncey speak with Mark with the utmost respect.

"Thank you, very much. Designing and putting every mechanism together took me months. It was tailored to be used by a witch. By that, I mean that it is powered by a magic-infused crystal, which can be charged using witch magic. Also, while it is attached to the nerves of its wearer like a standard prosthesis, Aurora could easily control it using her magic. I've repurposed some of the key elements of it to design this golem. It is remotely controlled by a girl who apparently is unable to leave her room" Mark explained, unknowingly showing the passion he'd put into those projects. "Enough about me, though. I do not want to bore you. What is your favorite project you have worked on?" He said and asked, genuinely curious to learn what Chauncey was proud of.

"It's not boring at all," Chauncey said after listening to Mark speak. He thought the tool was ingenious, although beyond him. After all, his enchanting specialisation used much more mundane components. When asked about his favourite project, Chauncey lifted a leg with skate strapped to it, a smile overtaking his features again as he spoke. "I'm wearin' it," he said, putting his foot down, though it looked like he barely swayed even though he was standing on one skate. "Although it's my enchantments that make it really special, the skate itself is just a clever design that I co-engineered with someone else. I enchant electronic components. My family calls them 'overclocks'. It's an good enough term. Every single component in there is enchanted."

Angela couldn't help but smile herself when she noticed a smile on Chauncey's pretty face. She really, really liked that smile. It suited him.

Mark listened carefully to his explanation about his skates, while also looking at the work he was listening about. He looked genuinely interested in such original application for enchanting skills. Hearing that enchanting electronics was his specialty also caught his interest. "I must admit, I really like the design and the idea. I have never imagined that skates even could be enchanted. It is amazing! So, what are the effects of your enchantments? Are you overclocking the electronic parts for improved speed? It is honestly all that comes to my mind when looking at these beauties." Mark said, clearly fascinated by Chaucey's skills.

"The motors, the logic boards, batteries, everything," Chauncey said, nodding. "It's a lot of things. The base design works well enough, but, if, say, you get a more powerful motor in there, the batteries can't handle the draw and you need bigger ones, and then you need other things changing and you get a spiralling effect that ends with the design getting too clunky. My enchantments make those upgrades without a size increase, although the strain on the components goes way up. The parts need to be the best or it all starts breaking," he was really quite excited to be able to talk about the his enchantments and design. "Though the way I run them means I still end up needing a lot of spares."

Mark rubbed his chin at the explanation, wondering if there was a way to deal with breaking parts. Well, in every machine material gets weaker with time and finally breaks. Designing a device that hardly ever breaks was the biggest challenge for every designer passionate about their projects. "I can only imagine how difficult it was to properly balance strain on the materials used and the power of the enchantments. Is it difficult to produce spare parts?" Mark said and then asked. He understood too well how important it was to use the best materials available. Minerva's golem and Aurora's arm were projects that would be breaking too often if he didn't use the best and the most durable parts to make them.

"I get 'em free from where the retail skates are made, since I own half the design," Chauncey said, "Although they do pick out the ones which come out best for me, so it's certainly not easy per se."

Mark nodded his head. "Oh, I see." He said. It seemed like Chauncey also was an enchanter who used his skills to earn a living. In Mark's opinion, it was a good thing. "Still, if you ever needed help with parts or anything related to our work, I would be glad to offer my assistance." Mark said, who felt like he could learn a lot if there ever was an opportunity to work with Chauncey.

"Maybe if I need something that's on the more magic-based side of enchanting. Seems you know your way around that better than anyone I've ever met," Chauncey said, nodding once. "And you can count on me if it's electronics that need a boost."

"Thank you very much. I will make sure to contact you if I ever need help." Mark said, smiling widely. "Oh, but I must mention that my magic-based work would be nowhere near as polished as it is without an actual witch helping me power-up the tools. Without Aurora here and her magic energy making this golem would probably take me half a year and it still wouldn't be as good." He said and pointed at Minerva's doll. At that point, it was obvious that he was just being modest. Even without Aurora, he was able to make most of his tools and her help was only needed for the biggest projects.

"And I wouldn't be able to power a magical light bulb, so there," Chauncey said, in the end, laughing at his joke that wasn't all that far from the truth.

Mark chuckled and shook his head. He personally believed that he probably would if he really wanted. "Well, it has been a really pleasant conversation, Chauncey, but I am afraid I need to return to my workshop." Mark said, remembering that he still had work to finish. He reached into a pocket of his waistcoat and pulled a simple business card out of it which he then handed to the fellow enchanter. "I have put my number and the address of my workshop on this card. Please pay me a visit when you find the time." He said with a smile as he started making his way over to the door. "Goodbye, Chauncey, I hope to see you soon!" Mark said, waving at the fellow enchanter.

"Yeah, quite," Chauncey said, agreeing with Mark about the fact that the conversation was in fact quite pleasant. He pocketed the card Mark gave him, making a note to save the information on it later on. "Yeah, I hope so too," he said in the end. 

Now that Mark was leaving, he brought his attention back to Angela. "So, uh... Want to go back to the drinks plan?" he asked.

"Goodbye everyone!" Mark had said to the staff of Nine-Tails before he left the cafe.

"For now, yeah." Angela said, smirking friendly at him. "Let's take a seat first." She said as she started leading the way towards the best table in the entire cafe.

Again, Chauncey took the seat that he had been in previously, getting himself more comfortable now that he had no reason to think he'd need to vacate it for a little bit. "So, what do you recommend?" He asked, rather than looking at the menu, since Angela did work there.

Angela rubbed her cheek as she remembered their entire menu. "Depending on what your preferences are, I can recommend different things." She initially said and made a very short pause. "Since it's a cafe, we mainly focus on making coffee, obviously. So, for example. if you want something not too strong, I can recommend a cup of latte or flat white. Both are espressos with milk and milky microfoam. The difference is that latte has more foam than flat white. If you want something very sweet, we have mocha coffee which is a bit similar to latte but also contains chocolate. Then we have stronger coffees which don't contain milk - espressos, double espressos, standard black coffee et cetera. If you're more of a tea guy, we have the most popular brands of tea available. We can serve tea with or without milk too. Oh, we also have pies, cakes and other pastries if you'd like. Though, to be completely fair with you, I'd have to take a look at what we still have available at the moment, since we have different cakes and pies every day..." Angela said, trying to present the available options.

"Ehh... You've lost me halfway through, so I'll just have that mocha..." Chauncey said, after Angela was done talking. It really was the promotional spiel you'd expect from someone working at a place and he did ask for it, but he got lost nonetheless.

Angela chuckled. "Yeah, I should've predicted this would happen. My bad." She told him, somewhat amused. Conveniently her sister approached their table to get their orders. "Hey. Aurora, we'd like two mochas, please."
"Mhm, alright." Aurora said with a nod and went in the opposite direction to get their drinks prepared. With record fast ordering out of the way, Angela refocused on Chauncey again. "Oh, by the way, we don't have to worry about paying." She informed the enchanter.

"Niiiice," Chauncey said, quietly, at the mention of not having to pay. He wasn't going to argue with freebies. "So, you mentioned you like sports earlier on. I just gotta ask, you ever try skating?"

"Well, it's actually one of the sports I've never tried! Being able to fly on a broom or using my wings has always been way too convenient." Angela said, looking away for a second as if a little bit ashamed that she'd never had any skates on her feet. "But after seeing you and your skates? Man, I'd absolutely love to try! How cool would it be to just... skate through the streets, doing tricks 'n' stuff!" Angela said and her eyes were shining with excitement, remembering all the cool stuff Chauncey'd done during the race.
